Title: Pirates - A new shed adventure - more Pirates join the crew (23rd Nov)
Post by: Eric the Shed on November 06, 2012, 07:49:19 PM
Hi Folks

Following the success of my French Indian Wars project I have now started on the new adventure - Pirates !

I have made a start with an Ainsty boat & the Foundry Horde

Would welcome advice on rules, figures, boats, terrain and other nautical views...first up where can I find some decent 28mm treasure chests !

Great stuff. I picked up a load of pirates from Stu at Col Bill sometime ago. When they will get painted only christ knows.

Looking forward to the updates Mr Shed.

Make that two of us :)

As for rules I have just started a campaign using Legends of the High Seas. They are ok, basic but do the job.

For figures you can't go wrong with the Foundry range. If you want to add some government troops look at Front Rank C17th - 18th and take your pick.

For scenic items have a look at Black Cat Bases.

Boats and ships Ainsty, Minimi, or Games of War :

Mamalute

When you say that you have just started a campaign - are you actually gaming or just putting together the components?

cheers

Cheers guys - no point in hanging around :)

The next 15 are already on the kitchen table waiting for a coat of paint tonight - its that or watching a dire game of football. To think I could have been at Mamalute's but Mrs Shed told me to stay in a look after kids...

cheers

I can paint while watching footie as long as the match isn't too important. I try and listen to crowd noise and look up only when they are reacting to things.

A great-looking bunch, what about a few pirettes?
I'm afraid the Black Scorpion ones are too *huge* (33mm?) to be Foundry-compatible, and I'm not sure about the Freebooter ones (yet their Assassins (http://www.freebooterminiatures.de/en/catalog/miniatures/assassins) look so good!); but the Eureka Ladies Pirates are certainly compatible with Foundry. The cutest of the range (the one in tricorne) is also available separately, in two different poses, from Irregular Miniatures (http://www.irregularminiatures.co.uk/indexes/25mmindex.htm)

A touch of insomnia more like and nothing on the box to grab my interest...I paint quick (just base coat and dip wash) and paint in bulk -
