We've arranged with the forum moderators to create this thread so that you can find all of our posts in one place.
Hi all, I'm here on behalf of Graven Games (http://"http://www.gravengames.co.uk"), a site for wargamers dedicated to bringing you great reviews and gaming projects which will hopefully inspire you to take on some crazy projects of your own. We've got plenty of articles about our various scratch-built Super Heavies for 40k, and WIP logs of our ambitious Adeptus Mechanicus Space Marine Army in which every model will have bionics, servo arms, and other conversions.

(http://gravengames.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/scratchbuilt-tau-manta.jpg) (http://gravengames.co.uk/scratchbuilt-tau-manta/)
We are also working on a selection of useful guides for wargamers, here are a couple:
(http://gravengames.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/diy-build-magnetic-movement-trays-warhammer.jpg) (http://gravengames.co.uk/build-your-own-magnetic-movement-trays/)

Another thing we enjoy doing is reviewing models and conversion parts, providing close-up photos, size comparisons, and conversion ideas for you to see. A large collection of these are available on the site right now, here are some that you might find useful:

Please note that these are not our products, nor do we sell anything, we are just passionate about the hobby and write reviews of things we would find useful ourselves.
We will also provide free downloads every now and then like these Wound Counters & Markers suitable for use with 40k 6th ed:

And finally, we will also be running competitions and giveaways:

I have to say this does seem to be a good idea. Now all your posts in one place, where people can read them if interested. I like the concept of the Manta, and think with a little more work you could get it looking very nice indeed.
Duncan

Thanks Duncan, yes I think this is the way forward too, much better and less obtrusive to keep everything one place rather than over lots of small threads. I'm glad you like the Manta, it was actually a quick build for use in a large game, but I may revisit it and add more details at some point.

Time to solve the mystery of those mysterious terrain pieces in games of Warhammer & Warhammer 40k. We've tested out some Mysterious Woods and Mysterious Waters markers from Gale Force Nine, designed to help you keep track of the various mysterious terrain features in your games.

A Mysterious Wood!
You can see our full review of both sets of markers, plus lots of pictures here:

What do you think of these markers? Would you use them in your own games?

Hi all,
We're always on the lookout for low cost models from other ranges to use in our 40k armies, and we recently stumbled across a Sci-Fi APC from Scotia Grendel. Its priced at £9 ($14.30) and is just a little smaller than a Space Marine Rhino.
(http://gravengames.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/scotia-grendel-sci-fi-apc-10.jpg) (http://gravengames.co.uk/scotia-grendel-sci-fi-apc-review/)
We've taken loads of pictures including sze comparisons with 40k models which you can see here:
http://gravengames.co.uk/scotia-grendel-sci-fi-apc-review/ (http://gravengames.co.uk/scotia-grendel-sci-fi-apc-review/)
What do you think? Can you see a use for it in your army? We might turn this one into a vehicle for an Ork army, but it has the potential to be lots of different things - how would you use it?
-
That was a nice little review :)
The APC is a TAV from the old Void 1.1 range and would make a good 'civilian' tracked vehicle without the weapons... maybe for a mining colony or exploration crew.
I am very fond of the Scotia Grendel resin vehicle kits because you get a lot better value than you do elsewhere. I have a large amount of the Kryomek 'sand carrier' vehicles and they are just as simple and even cheaper than the one you reviewed... again, they are well worth a look.
Scotia also have vehicles in the Void 1.1 and Grendel sci-fi sections, including the ubiquitous Tiger APC (a miniature AT-AT type of vehicle).
-
Just a quick question for you guys at Graven Games - are there plans for reviewing the Wolverine IFV/Bison Armoured Personal Carrier, from bitspudlo.com? I really enjoy your reviews so I'm keeping my fingers crossed ;)
-
@Inso, Glad you liked the review, and I totally agree with your thoughts on the value and usefulness of the Scotia Grendel vehicles - and its funny you mentioned the Tiger APC, we actually already reviewed that which you can see here: http://gravengames.co.uk/tag/scotia-grendel/ (http://gravengames.co.uk/tag/scotia-grendel/)
@Predatorpt, you read my mind, I would definitely like to review that kit and plan to do so in the near future :)

You are partially correct, but not completely. This model is a revorked Void model, it is not 100% the same, the guns on the side has been added and I think also some of the stuff on front.
You can still buy the original Void model at Scotia too, but it is more expensive.
I have a copy of this version here, but I think it has too many guns for the size of the vehicle. So I have been looking for a hatch to replace the turret before I can use it for anything.

... so it's a TAV with a bit of extra kit then ;)?
So... six out of ten, could do better? :D
I prefer the Tav because it HASN'T got the moulded on guns... but I wouldn't have noticed until you pointed it out so good on you, sir :) .
-
Yeah, I prefer the original too, but when I bought this one I must have been going after the price instead of looks I guess...

Hey all, Glad you liked the review of that sci-fi APC.
We've got something new for you today, as part of our Ad Mech themed Space Marine Chapter the Iron Guard, we've started to work on a small allied Grey Knight force which will be represented as an allied Ad Mech Explorator team. We've decided to use Inquisitor Coteaz as the allied HQ, so that he'll make the Henchmen a troops choice. Model wise, we've converted a Techpriest to 'counts as' Coteaz:
(http://gravengames.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/inquisitor-coteaz-adeptus-mechanicus-techpriest-conversion-1.jpg) (http://gravengames.co.uk/iron-guard-allies-mechanicus-inquisitor-conversion/)
And here he is with our 'counts as' Jokaero
(http://gravengames.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/inquisitor-coteaz-adeptus-mechanicus-techpriest-conversion-8.jpg) (http://gravengames.co.uk/iron-guard-allies-mechanicus-inquisitor-conversion/)
We've got loads more pics and info about how we built him on the blog, plus pics and info of the other units, which you can see here here: Mechanicus Inquisitor Conversion (http://gravengames.co.uk/iron-guard-allies-mechanicus-inquisitor-conversion/)
You can check out the rest of the army here: Mechanicus themed Space Marines (http://gravengames.co.uk/tag/iron-guard/)
what do you think?

One thing, the version pictured above is actually the older one and dates back to the mid-nineties - I have a 1996 copy of Forge Magazine featuring an article by Kevin Dallimore building the basic model and a variant using GZG parts. For the Void rerelease, they renoved the side guns (wise choice IMHO) and went to sell it as the TAV.
-
ok, cool, you learn new stuff all the time :)

Very interesting, thanks Chris.

Hey all,
We've been playing around with the Thunderstorm Missile Launcher from MaxMini, looking at the different ways we could use them in in our games of 40k. Here are a couple of sample pics:
(http://gravengames.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/maxmini-thunderstorm-launcher-10-300x225.jpg) (http://gravengames.co.uk/thunderstorm-missile-launcher-review/)

Its a great little kit, which fits well with the 40k look and scale, we've done a full review of it with many more pictures and thoughts on how it can be used, you can see the full review here:
http://gravengames.co.uk/thunderstorm-missile-launcher-review/ (http://gravengames.co.uk/thunderstorm-missile-launcher-review/)
Are any of you already using these? Did you come up with anything different to what we thought in the reivew? Feel free to post pics if you've painted yours.

Hi all,
We recently stumbled across some dice bags over one Etsy which we're sure will appeal to 40k players, you can see our review here:
Handmade Dice Bags Review - Graven Games (http://gravengames.co.uk/handmade-dice-bags-review/)
(http://gravengames.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/greyed-out-handmade-dice-bags-warhammer-40k-9-300x225.jpg) (http://gravengames.co.uk/handmade-dice-bags-review/)
We didn’t actually own any dice bags up until now, but like the look and feel of these. Are you a fan of using dice bags? what you think of these designs from Greyed Out Productions?

I prefer the look of the Anvil Industries Missile Launcher, see here (http://www.anvilindustry.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=60_78&product_id=109)
or the Kromlech Zephyr, see here (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kromlech-Zephyr-Missile-Launcher-/160757087725?pt=Games_US&hash=item256dde7ded)
I like your application on vehicles, though and I can imagine that they'd fit on a Land Speeder to create the Typhoon variant...
-
The Anvil Industry one looks good, & yes I think they would be great for making custom Land Speeder Typhoons!
