I had hit a snag on motivation to keep working on my Greek City...so I had some people over for a quick skirmish game to get me riled up and ready to work again.
Doing research on the Peloponnesian War it was interesting to see how many of the minor powers switched sides (or attempted to) and what the major powers did to intervene. I wanted to try and game one such situation where the goal was breaking dissidents out of prison so they could raise up their supporters and win over the city. I had also been reading a book about how many walled city states were taken through subterfuge, collusion with townsfolk's and general sneaky behavior. But enough chit chat...onto some pictures.

So there we have it. It turned out to be a really close game with the nigh unstoppable Spartan soldiers bashing their way through the townsfolk's phalanxes. The light troops (especially the archers) took the high ground and did incredible damage almost saving it for the town in the end. Hope you enjoyed...I have a larger Hail Caesar game planned for a week or two from now but will be lacking the full city layout.
It served it's purpose and I'm back to work on my Greeks and expanding the collection and terrain.
Let me know what you think.

Thanks for the excellent report!

An awesome post. Look forward to seeing more.
I love using comic life to. It really makes writing reports up.

Wonderful AAR - thanks for that!
These days, seeing posts about the goings-on on other people's gaming tables is the only gaming I seem to get.

Great inspiration! Thanks!
It reminds me of my Spartan leadpile 8)

Great post! This was fun to read and looked great. Awesome job on the minis, the terrain, and the battle report! Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks for the kind words....it was a good little skirmish and I'm happy it ended so close (and not with a beating for one side or the other as feared). More terrain to follow but painting figures and odd's and ends this weekend.
Matakishi - it's your tireless output of terrain and tutorials that helped give me faith I could tackle something like this...although I'm lucky that the wall texture covers my many sins in construction.
Traveller - I'm using this as inspiration to reduce my considerably large Spartan lead pile as well. The goal is to be able to run Hoplite on Hoplite full Hail Caesar games...need to keep painting phalanxes.

Great AAR!
'Scary beards' made me chuckle.
I love the buildings and have been following your other thread about the construction of the town, and it has come together really well.
Good work.
