Hello
My blog is long on waffle and short on actual modelling pics at the moment, but here's a shot of a slow work in progress on Balin's Tomb from The Fellowship of the Ring, part of a broader project to cover all of Thorin Oakenshield's party from The Hobbit using GW's Dwarf Rangers.

Looking good - I like the book pages and ex-book keeper in particular.

Agreed...the surrounding details/clutter really make the piece. VERY WELL DONE!

I agree that the Dwarven Rangers of GW pretty much look like I pictured the dwarves. Much better than the design of the upcoming Hobbit movie (though I can understand that design from a filmmaker's point of view).

Great work! Nice detail and I love the fact that it can be opened.

Thanks guys!
As I said, I hope to return to the model before too long. In the mean-time, I've finished some of the Hobbit Dwarves, and started a thread on them here: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=49079.0

Hi again
Having finished my Oakenshield party I'm back to working on Balin's Tomb from ages ago. There's an update here: http://jetsimian.blogspot.co.nz/2013/06/moria-cutaway-we-need-to-talk-about.html (http://jetsimian.blogspot.co.nz/2013/06/moria-cutaway-we-need-to-talk-about.html), with finished photos to appear in the next day or so!

And finally... done.

The photos aren't the best as I was losing light, but the main details are there. The original plastic trinket box (or whatever it was) is now almost completely covered and re-shaped. There's an expanded base, more detritus, and of course a stracth-built resident for the Tomb!

Much more description and a few more WIP pics over on my blog: http://jetsimian.blogspot.co.nz/2013/07/moria-cutaway-balins-tomb-completed.html (http://jetsimian.blogspot.co.nz/2013/07/moria-cutaway-balins-tomb-completed.html)

Nice details for a display piece or a centre piece in a game.
-
That is an WONDERFUL display piece &/or scenic item. The surrounding clutter & The Deceased are OUTSTANDING touches. GREAT WORK!
-
Nice work.
That has come out really well.

Bravo old chap. I do hope that it sees some gaming time as excellent themed scenery quite often makes the game and that is excellent themed scenery.
Lets see the Fellowship bravely defending Gimli's cousin!!!!
