Listed as a pre-order for March next year:
http://www.ospreypublishing.com/store/The-New-Zealand-Wars-1820–72_9781780962771
Should be of interest to a few.
Along with this one: http://www.ospreypublishing.com/store/Debutantes-and-the-London-Season_9780747812197
If the latter isn't a piss take I'll definitely be ordering a copy.

Thanks for the tip-off. I've been waiting for a release date for this one. I look forward to going over it with the proverbial fine tooth comb :D

You're not alone in that ;) 8).

I'm looking forward to getting my hands on this one too.
-
I'm assuming the release date of the second one is April 1st, but the NZ book looks very useful :)

Funny thing, the Ospreys are often available in Australia a good month or more before they appear in Britain because they print them and ship from China and it makes no sense to ship them to one side of the world just to ship them back. This stopped for a while, according to a retailer I know, because wargamers in the UK were whining that it was unfair other people were getting copies before them but common or rather, economic, sense prevailed.

I'm glad that sense did prevail..... otherwise it sounds very much like "it's not fair" to me lol

Thanks for the heads up, an Osprey to keep an eye out for (the NZ one rather than debutantes ;)
-
The debutantes book is a real thing... it's just not an Osprey. It's from Shire, one of our sister companies, which does social and heritage history type books. As to why it's appeared on the Osprey site... ummm... pass?
I saw the artwork for the NZ Wars book yesterday – it's very nice! Raffaele Ruggeri has done a great job. I'll try and post the proper cover (as opposed to the current placeholder) showing some of the art tomorrow.
Geographically, we're moving ever closer to my long-desired (and, sadly, probably entirely commercially non-viable) Men-at-Arms on the 16th–19th century forces of Indonesia and Malaysia...

Oh come on, we're not buying that excuse. Fess up, it's clearly an Osprey title you've palmed off to someone else because you couldn't decide if Debutantes fitted into the 'Elite' series or 'Women at Arms'. :D
Hopefully the forthcoming title on Indo-Malayan armies won't be another David Nicolle authored title, his last one on the Portuguese was really piss poor.
-
Presumably the much anticipated 'Swagger Sticks of the Third Reich: Volume 7' is to be released at the same time :D
-
The Indonesia book will be high on my wishlist. :P

I've already got this Osprey on pre-order. It is obviously a "must have" for me, because of where I live (NZ!) and what I wargame (the NZ Wars)!
I'm really looking forward to seeing the cover art that Smith has said he'll post shortly.

Sadly, as I said, Indonesia/Malaysia colonial armies is not on the cards... it's just the title I've always wanted!
In happier news, feast your eyes on this:

For me I think Angus Mcbride will always be my favorite illustrator by a mile. But the artwork on that cover is really very good. Will have to keep an eye out for more work by Raffaele Ruggeri.
Finding myself drawn towards the NZ Wars, I can see myself giving into temptation soon.
-
Anybody try the Colonial SAGA rules from Wargames Soldiers and Stragedy? Wondering if they would play well for the NZ Wars.
-
That is an amazing cover picture!!!
I hope you don't mind, Smith, but I'm so excited I couldn't resist posting about it right away on my Dressing the Lines blog:

No worries at all – glad you like it, Arteis!

Raffaele Ruggeri is, I think, my favourite Osprey artist who is still with us. He has illustrated several books with an African colonial theme for them. I have four of his: Two on Italy's involvement in Abyssinia (1896 and 1935), and two on East Africa ("Warrior Peoples" and the Great War one).

A little off the pace, but I just noticed the Osprey blog advent calendar had more NZ Wars art on it:

That's another fantastic piece of art, Smith.
It really shows the unusual shawl order uniform of the New Zealand Armed Constabulary & militia.
Ruggeri's figures remind me of Troiani in their realism, especially the faces, and also the texture of the clothing.
This book is going to be fabulous even for just for the pictures alone.

Ah the Lily Savage Battalion in all its glory.
Oddly enough it's roles reversed these days, there can hardly be an Maori family anywhere that doesn't sport at least one transgendered member.
