Title: 20mm Manchurian cavalry 1938-39 for Nomonhan -- anything?
Post by: Schogun on 07 December 2012, 02:05:09 PM
Looking for 20mm 1/72 1/76 Manchurian troops -- especially cavalry -- for use in Nomonhan-related battles. Here are some photos:

I understand you correctly? You are interested in the Mongolian army?

For the image of the Mongols can use figurines of the Soviet army. The Mongols was a Soviet uniform, but the Mongolian insignia.

Here on my forum there is some information on the Mongolian army:

Most Soviet cavalry I'm finding are cossacks in fur hats.

Zvezda 1/72 Soviet Cavalry and if you insist on caps, do headswaps with their infantry or NKVD figures. Those little packs whilst expensive for the number of figures are exquisite miniatures and they are now doing a range of stuff that makes them a real go to for 20mm.

Thanks Carlos, I was looking for some stuff like this to flesh out my 20mm Russians for battle with WWII Japanese, never saw these before. Any pics of the figures?

Pics (small) at:

2 mounted figures per box. One with flat cap, other with helmet. Both holding a saber, but there's a rifle on the sprue to mount on back.

Price $3.89 up to $5.89.

Like Carlos says, pretty expensive for two figures.

Well if they prove too expensive, Strelets do some Great War period Russian cavalry that you could get away with with some judicious use of a craft knife on shoulder straps.

Hi Schogun

You can also take a look at this link for pics and a review of the Zveda Soviet Calvary:

They look pretty good to me.

Yes, I agree -- they look good.

I wonder if it's possible to swap the sword for the rifle.

Where's my x-acto knife?   :)

It's too bad we have to pay for Zvezda's game aids (plastic flag, base, color data card) in the price now.
