2 of the Foundry ones have been half painted ever since they were first released :) I thought it was about time to get them finished so the senator type and the pugilist joined them....

Lovely miniature, Dave. You did them great justice :-*
-
Excellent stuff!

Well done, I like your clean painting style. Never go wrong with gladiators, of course. :)
-
Like your painting.
Are they the first of many?

Thanks. 3 more cleaned up, based and painted.......like all my projects, a labour of passion but I am a fickle lover....my Pirates stopped at about 7 figures and slipped onto the back burner......hopefully I will keep at it!

Lovely!

Seconded. Nice painting work.

8 more added........wonders will never cease! 3 Foundry and 5 Rose Miniatures (from the depths of time and very true scale minis)

Looks good to me. :)
Like the addition of pugilists and some extras. Not sure what the nudes are to represent in this context, though. ???
-
Great work on the figures.

Nor am I! They were part of the very old (70s?) Rose miniatures set so I thought I'd finish them....looks like a slave trader set, 2 salves, 2 'dealers' and 1 prospective customer.......
-
I love they boxers. I will need to get some of them.
-
Just need the bases finishing...well that has already been done and they have been glossed so awaiting final matt coate.......quick pic from a couple of weeks ago.....

Wasn't it you I bought all my gladiators from, all those years ago? Glad to hear you got the bug again...
-
Really cool looking. 8)
I like the retiarius' skull like mask a lot - would not have thought of doing it like that.

Yeah - I thought I remember seeing you selling off your stuff too Nick during a search on LAF for gladiator stuff myself.
-
Very nice. A really clean and neat style which sets the miniatures off nicely. :D
There does seen to be a bit of a push on gladiators around here lately.
-
I agree with you, Ray.
Lots of cool figures. I am about really to go out in my garage
and try to find mine.
Oh the mess I will have to fight to get them. lol
Severs me right.

"Those Who Are About to Die Salute You" ;D

I did indeed sell them all to LeadAsbestos and then when Foundry released their Galdiator rules I went and purchased the Crusader Miniatures packs instead...I couldn't help myself lol
-
Smart man! I was just looking at the Crusader stuff yesterday...

Some very nice figures, but a few of them are a bit short in the leg department and look a bit stumpy.

True, some are vertically challenged, but they are more historically accurate then Foundry (although I love Foundry too!). :)
You can see it well in Dozing Dragon's last pic. The second mini is a Foundry dwarf murmillo and even without his fancy hat he is almost as tall as the Crusader ones! o_o

5 more finally done!

Again, very nice. The dark metal parts give good contrast to the other colours, especially the fleshtones (which are well done). Like 'em. :)

Very nice. ;D

Neat stuff! I like your smooth painting style.
