Such great little details, I love the storefronts as well.

Great stuff, Andy!
The scratchbuilt stuff is up to your usual high standard and the paintwork is lovely.

It's going to be another triumph. I can tell already. You're going to need another bus... (one with chickens on the roof) ;)

Amazing work Andy!
This must have taken you ageees; all those little details. Enough to make anyone jealous!
Is this another board or just some bits and bobs?
Cheers
Andy
-
I'm just curious how other painters handle this, so did you paint all the tiny pieces separately or in situ on their bases?

It's bits and bobs for use in photos and games for our (Crooked Dice) new 7th Voyage mythic stop-motion fantasy inspired rule set. Currently being play tested and out at Salute 2013.

Not to derail too much but I tend to do it all in situ, makes it easier :)
cheers
James

great stuff. :-*
Can I ask - where does the fountain come from, just searched the scotia grendel site and couldnt find it there.

Hey mate, what did you use for the lattice effect on the windows?
Cheers

I find it works better if you glue everything in place then paint. It lets the washes shade under the bits I'm painting. It also just seems to make everything fit, using the same paint mixes to highlight for example.

It's waste metal mesh I found on a building site I was working on. Are you needing some bud?
Anywho, I've got a lot of wee bits and pieces to paint for this. These are just the start...

The carts a slightly modified 4ground one. The canvas supports have been removed and plastic card strips stuck on to hide the wood joins..

Beautiful stuff!

I'm getting to the end of this one! Only a couple of Scotia Grendel bits left. I don't know about anybody else but I find them a bit TOO detailed to paint!! There's sooo much going on on them!!

Bloody gorgeous, Andy.
Pure class.
:-* :-* :-*
-
Excellent!
-
Simply outstanding!
-
I love the Grendel stuff, I wish they'd kept producing more :)
-
Another vulgar display of modelling power. :-*
I like the grendel stuff too, but I actually think it fits your terrain badly.
At least the pieces with all the brick/stone work going on... clashes with the idea of an Arabian market I think?
-
Splendid, Andy.
Great colour palette too :-*

Totally agree! I'm sure if it comes to it Karl can use them for something different! I also find the scale a bit big! There's a black smiths but I've painted and the weapons are HUGE. The knifes the size of a sword, the axe bigger than a person.
Cheers for the nice comments guys!
-
Truly lovely. I'm amazed by the number and quality of the details.

I'm with you too. I got the set for the fountain but thought the other bits would come in handy as additional pieces in the background of the market photos. Andy's done a cracking job regardless :)

Here's the culprits....

They are fantastic Andy! Brilliant painting, beautiful colours.Outstanding :-*
-
You are getting rather good at this.
But you need to stop sending them away :D
-
Whoa! I'm overwhelmed by your abilities! The details make this just great! :-*
-
Wonderful stuff, right down to the little black markings on the bananas – just like the real things from Asda.
Fantastic, the colours and shading on the clay urns - beautiful. :-*
Blodwin

I like the pile of rugs - and the painting is lovely.
Not a fan of the all-in-one moulded pieces though. They look a bit like the things you find in tourist souvenir shops on the costas... ::)

I am with the Captain on these pieces.
The painting is top notch, especially those rugs!
:-* :-* :-*
(I think they are real, you just took a picture of the New Year sale at Carpet Right, didnt you.....?)
There is something wrong-looking about the other bits, though.
Not sure about whatever toot Captain B is buying on his travels, but I will take his word for it.
I have a couple of them myself and cannot bring myself to use them yet..there is something just not quite right to me as well.
Great stuff, Andy, but you had better make something to use at home soon to keep your brother happy!
;)
-
Very nice indeed
-

They remind me of fridge magnets...
Sorry Andy. No reflection on your painting skills my friend.
Just that the pieces don't look like scale models - more like dolls house toys or summat... Can't quite put my finger on it ::)
Anyway, I shall stop going on about it and introducing all this unnecessary negativity into this wonderful thread! :)
-
The painting (as everyone agrees) is wonderful. The pieces themselves have merit. It is all around context. In Heroquest these would work perfectly. In a "realistic" setting they look a little stylised, and vaguely out of place.
But if you decide to throw them out I can find a home for them. Mine. :)
Sorry Bezzo! I'd love to send you them, but at this moment I'm packing them up and sending them off to their new owner, I ain't even going to get a chance to use them!! :( :'(

Don't apologise Captain, I couldn't agree more! As you say they are very reminiscent of those wee ornament cottages you buy! I think they're just to crammed!!
I totally forgot about one last piece...

That's it all totally finished! This is the haul that's being sent away...

Cheers!!

Ah, now I LOVE the fruit stall :)
-
Simply brilliant and inspiring. I am already planning how I can make a market for my modern Africa campaign.
well done.
-
Brilliant stuff :-*

Tell you what, why bother sending it all the way to England. Just bring it to mine.
I sure it wouldn't look out of place on the pirate board.
It will save you on postage, in fact, I will even drive over to yours to save you petrol money :D
