Title: Unit size...
Post by: Pronto232409 on 11 December 2012, 11:48:57 PM
A friend of mine showed me a copy of Victory Decision and after first reading thought to myself these look like a good set of rules for skirmish size WWII games. The idea that one army list covers that force for an entire period is also very good.

My first real questions of the army building came when I asked myself - what if I do not wish to build 'full' strenght squads. I understand I can make my units battle weary by reducing their leadership ratings, but what if I wanted to field a squad less than full strenght to simulate previous losses.

Is this at all possible given the current army lists?

You can already do this in many lists, just check the options...

I have noticed that but in particular I was referring to the US Para list... my error I could have been more specific!

Ah I see - for the US Paras I did not wanted that option. Well equipped lots of replacement available etc.

It is still a platoon sized game, for a squad based skirmish I would allow more customisation.

Done some quick calculations...

If you and your opponent agree, you can remove 1 Private with M1-Garand for -25 points each from the US Paratrooper Squad. If the unit is Group- or Multibased increase the HP/X ability accordingly.

Not recommended, but if you like it...   ;)

I will playtest it and see how it works - thanks.

You will soon realise that very small numbered armies are punished by the "Retreat" scanario rule....
