Title: Someone playing solo battletech ?
Post by: sundayhero on December 12, 2012, 11:09:12 AM
Hi,

I'd like to know if somebody here is playing battletech in solo rules, and how. I know there is Megamech app, and also Gauntlet solo rules (found on BGG website). But I'd like something more "cinematic", more...battletech  lol

thank you

You can play Battletech solo as-is as long as you are impartial. If you're looking for a faster version the new quick-strike rules are very good.

Always good rto see another Battletech player here!

I need to create some random events system, to add some surprise in solo game. Bttletech is wellknown for it novels range  : it would be cool to fin this kind of "drama" in solo games...

Since I don"t find what I'm searching for in several game universes, I'll have to create my own system, I guess  :D

Solo stuff can be pretty easy --- just type up some cards (I use Gamecrafter frequently).  Random assignments or events make it pretty fun.  I don't play Battletech but I may pick up some cheap clix mechs to add to my 1/144 scale Robotech leftovers.  Battletech mechs would actually be easy to incorporate into my current system I use for Robotech.

You could do simple command cards, and random event cards (random event cards adding the drama you're looking for).  It's very doable.

Yes, it's what I'm thinking to myself these days. After all, it's solo play. It doesn't need to be perfectly balanced, tournament-proof.

It's what Im realizing these days, especially playing miniature football (up to date good old american electric football) again, and speaking about solitaire gaming in that typical community. My rules, my needs. No one will complain about  lol

I'll keep you informed about my results. For now I"ve got 2 games I'd like to play solo (necromunda and battletech) and I have 2 "universes" I'm thinking about creating my own rules too (old west and rpg-like fantasy).

The last advantage making "my own soup" is that I willbe able to write everything in french. Even if I can read english (and barely write it ) it is still easier in french.
