Evening all. Finally got round to finishing another batch of Lancastrians. Lord Hungerford’s retinue consisting of 10 fully harnessed, 10 bill and 20 bows. This puts finished Lancastrians at 200 foot, 50 mounted and a couple of field pieces. Work commitments been crazy lately so am moving slower than I would like. This, when time allows, will form the first element of a battle that will contain Somerset, Trollop and Devon. A kind of Second St Albans / Towton mash up. I added the Cotterall to his retinue because he’s from the area and I really liked his arms.

Lovely very impressive miniatures :-*

Lovely :)

I couldn't even motivate myself to paint 6 pairs of torusers today, never mind all that! Top notch!
-
A spectacular looking unit, well done! :)
-
Excellent looking unit! Really like the dark armour.

:-* :-*Lovely!!

love them! :)

great stuff :)

They look really good - well done.

Great looking contingent :)

There's some fine painting on show in the forum. Great work.

Afternoon all. Have finished another Lancastrian retinue to add to this battle. Somerset. 10 fully harnessed, 10 bill and 20 longbows. This still needs another 60 figs adding before it is battle ready. Already started on Trollops 30 and will finish with 30 of Devons. Have added some closer up shots that illustrate my quick, loose, but (I think) effective technique. Its certainly allowing me to motor through some figures at the moment. Cheers.

Outstanding!!! Love 'em! Between you, Cap'n Blood, Silent Invader, Jimbibbly et al., I'm getting a real itch to build and play a WotR retinue.
Must.Stay.Focused.

Nice - the army shot really conveys a mass of troops - I can't wait to see the force when you add the new ones to it.
-
A fabulous looking bunch.
-
I would argue they're ready for battle now.
They might need some allies mind. :D

Great stuff to see so many ranked up!

Evening All. Managed to finish Trollope’s 30 man retinue in a new world record for me. Have done them in 8 days as well as all the other mundane things life and work chuck my way. As mentioned earlier, these will have Devon’s 30 man retinue added (though I doubt so quickly) to complete the 140 man battle. Less bows in this bunch as I had ran out, but the order landed mid week so back up to strength of 20 archers for Devon. Cheers.

Great looking contingent! :-* Looking forward to seeing more.
Simon.

Prodigious!! :o
For which game system are they based??
Love 'em.
-
Hello Dilettante. Thanks for your words. I have to confess these are not based for any system. My aim is to paint a collection incorporating both sides. Each of my bases holds five figures which also makes adding them up easier (as I've planned to paint nearly 900). I figured so long as I stay consistent, the rules can be adapted to suit the collection. Cheers.

:o Go big or go home, huh. :D Your ambition is humbling.

Yes, you're on solid ground there.
They look great altogether and can only continue to dazzle as your ranks grow. Hats off!

The core of the other two Lancastrian battles. Northumberland with Dacre and then Exeter and Wells. Exeters battle need another 40 men to make it 120 strong, while Northumberland will be getting another 60 (including pike) to take his to 140. These pics were on a previous thread but am mustering forces to one thread. Cheers.

These look fantastic.
Can I ask what rules are you playing please?

Hello Carlo, I have to confess I have not selected a rule set yet either. Working purely on getting the collection complete, then I too will be looking to this forum for recommendations. They are a knowledgable bunch. Cheers. Michael.

Impressive :)

With the final addition of Devon the Battle is complete. First image shows grouped as contingents, while others as bowmen to the fore. That’s five roughly equal sized battles completed. Three Yorkist and two Lancastrian. Already got Roos contingent made up and undercoated so getting closer. Cheers all.

VERY impressive, i know how much detail the Perry figs have and I wonder how you do they all so quickly.
I did notice one interesting conversion in the rear rank, using the pike arms to make a bill man hold his bill horizontal at chest height. Must try that one out.

Bloody fabulous.
Well done.

I join the Captain in a wholehearted chorus of approval :-* :-* :-*.
Fab stuff.

I echo the chorus! :-*

Thanks for all the positives gents, very much appreciated. I am getting to the point where I paint these on autopilot, which is fine as it is a great way to switch off from the rat race. Once you have painted 400+ longbowmen the brush seems to know its own way about, while my brain engages with the latest audiobook offering (currently The Winter King).
Confession time now. I have never played a wargame in my life. I've been painting soldiers since I was eight but they have never, ever been used in anger. But, I have promised myself that once this collection is finished (hopefully this year) I shall be appealing to the great and good of this forum for assistance in righting that wrong.
Cheers
-
Really impressive and as I've said before, it's how I would expect them to look... a nice deep body of men. Certainly looks better than the typical four-deep, five wide units you tend to see.
Well done! :)
-
Really impressive !

SO : how many people you will still paint ?? ! :D

Hello LR
I have planned for just over 900 figures. So far I have about 780 painted and based as in the pictures. I started collecting them the day the Perrys released the range. And I haven't stopped since! Cheers.

Lovely work - very impressive sight.

We shall have to sort that out ;)
I can see a monster LAF WOTR game coming up somewhere in Central England in the not too distant future!

Somewhere near Bosworth, perhaps? :)

Somewhere near Bosworth, perhaps? :)
If we combine our arms we may need the actual battlefield to host. Where was it again?

Looking at these fantastic figures, and those of Captain Blood, Silent Invader et al, I have to say what amazing standards of painting the Perry's WotR figure range has provided us with to enthuse over and look at in awe. Truly inspirational. Thank you one and all for sharing.

:o :-* Lovely paintjobs on those Perry's!
