I picked these up off Eureka recently, a nice set of band members and dancers for your speakeasy needs :)
There's 2 male and 3 female dancers in states of dancing animation. They are simple yet very nicely done.
The band consists of a double bass, trumpeter, trombone, oboe, banjo, drummer, pianist and female lead singer. They're all pretty neat and cast well, there was a little flash in between the drummers arms, which seems reasonable for the pose. The faces are really nicely done, and I'm someone more knowledgeable could probably pick who they are meant to represent.

They look great 8) 8)
The dancers are very characterful.
cheers
James
-
Very nice... my money is on Louis Armstrong on trumpet, Bessie Smith vocals... maybe Johnny Dodds on clarinet and Johnny St.Cyr on banjo?
:)

What he said.
I can also see myself picking some of these up to use as 1920's zombies.
Some of those poses are spot on!
:D
-
They must be mine!
-
Nice characterful sculpts..
Needs some strings on that DB tho. ;D
-

Drop Nic at Eureka an e-mail and he'll sort you out :)
That usually works for me when I don't have the patience to wait for stuff to get up on the website.

Mine turned up from a pre order a couple of days ago. Lovely sculpts.

Why am I not surprised lol
You really ought to change your name to the Dozing Hoarder ;)
-
They are precious to me :D
-
They are even better in the hand. Great sculpts and arrived on Christmas Eve.
The clarinettist is wrong, by the way.
The hands are the wrong way around. And, no, there's no such as a left-hand clarinet.
You might need to sculpt the clarinet away from the playing position at least.
The banjo should be a four or five string as well if you want Twenties vintage. Six strings were very late.
Still, a fantastic set. I want a Fifties saxomophonist (Bird, Coltrane, Dex etc)
-
would the piano player work in a Casablance setting?

Is it? Left hand up, right hand down! Isn't it right?

Hmm, Sangennaru, interesting
It was what I was told by a musician friend of mine (I don't play the clarinet) but the majority of images are right hand down - with some exceptions (as below):

I think I'd still prefer to remodel it with the clarinet in hand.
-
I'd say that this tutorial website is enough competent. Probably it's because musicians are used to see the instrument by--- the other side!

I've the same problem while looking at flutes, being a flute player myself. that's odd looked on a mini!
-
oooo, it's a clarinet. lol, I called it an oboe. Good thing I'm not a button and pom pom counter.
-
Oh dear, what an argument! Go and count some buttons the both of you!
As for the minis, they're fucking awesome and I wouldn't mindbuying a set or two. Just need to find a suitable head swap.
-
Fuck me! I've been wanting miniatures like these for AGES. The only musician/instrument missing is Django on a guitar.
-
Eureka is really coming on strong lately in the Jazz Age era, what with the film crew and now this. Lovely.

I'm still searching for the film crew :-[
Now, if they could just sort their homepage up so it's more browse friendly...

One does not simply purchase miniatures from Eureka... ;)

Lol

Mindbuying.... Is this like mindmodeling... Where you spend many hours looking at a mini and thinking about how your going to paint it... Before putting it down untouched. lol
I do plenty of both.
-
lol
Can't even blame the swenglish for that typo ;)

At last, there is a name for my hobby! :D

Ahahah, same for me... Sad but true. lol

^I'm afraid I can join the chorus about the mindmodelling ::) :?
-
ahhh yes... mindmodeling :D
Nice jazz band, no need for them though.

I found it easily enough, Silversixx. The film crew arrived in the same order.
Just look in the 100 Club and choose In Production.

I gather from a good source that the guys there are very helpful and approachable... I imagine something like this...

"Hello? Eureka?"
"What can we do for yer cobber?"
"Erm... have you released the 20's Jazz band? If so, can I have a set?"
"Sure... how about some warrior mice while yer at it?"
"Erm... okay..."
"Good call!"
;)

Catching up on LAF after all the holiday disruptions - these are very cool, glad someone's finally made a full band and dancers, too!
We've been talking for about three years about interwar gangster gaming, I think I'm going to have to make an order to Eureka sometime early this year and get these, along with that neat tchanka for my RCW forces...

This! I can't make head nor tail of the Eureka home page, and its a shame since they make damned fine figures!
-
Fighting 15s sell Eureka figures in Europe. I always go to them. Not sure they always have absolutely everything (currently their 1920s Civilians page has nothing on it), but they have always satisfied my Eureka-related needs.

I've done that as well in the past. But, to order stuff you need to find it on the Eureka homepage first ;)
-
It is a challenge. You can take one route and find nothing, then start again from another tack and find what just what you want. ::)
Still, I prefer that to the several efficient, idiot-friendly websites, that actually have nothing I'd want to buy...
:)

I just email Nic and admit I'm lost. He tells me exactly what to do, I do it and I'm done and dusted (and $100 poorer, but what the heck? It's only money).
Go to the 100 Club tab. Click on the links (blue 100 club, then "In Production" then the figures you want to add to your cart. Fill in the required info and you're good to go.
Word of warning: they don't have the prices listed yet, but in that first page of the 100/300 club thing you can get an idea of what you'll be paying, give or take. And things you never intended to add to your cart might just fall in. (I'm looking at you, Film Crew!)

There is a trick to it. Ian does not post everthing in the shop but often has a small stash of rare items hidden away. An email often get you sorted.

I personally would love to see the website updated and more user friendly. Though being honest I just go down the store most times I get eureka and Nic shows me the new stuff and most of the rest of the minis are painted up and in display cases. There is also books with all the minis in them on the desk which helps.
If there is a physical store, then I must get myself and an empty suitcase to Australia. I suspect it will be every bit as dangerous as the time we visited Foundry...
-
I got my grubby mits on Eureka's George Formby mini in the UK by emailing Nic. He very helpfully offered to bring it to the next show (Salute IIRC), so you can maybe arrange a per-order and pick up.
-
Just got mine a few days ago - I have been a jazz fan for ages and I just could not resist, I was swept away when I read the announcement and got the dancers too..
The band looks even better when you have in front of you than it does in the photos. I think the line up is supposed to be Louis Armstrong, Bessie Smith, Johnny Dodds (clarinet) Baby Dodds (drums), Kid Ory (trombone), Johnny St. Cyr (Banjo), Jelly Roll Morton (piano), John LIndsay (double bass). Dancers unidentified.. yet..
I am dreaming of a grand plan to build up a major set with them and a number of other figures.. probably willl never see the light ... but....
Any suggestions of figures that could be used as possible audience?
-
Sent a goon to get me that jazz set *and* the film crew at Salute. Got them in the mail today and let me tell you: they are fucking good.
-
The film crew is released? Pic please! I thought it was still waiting in the 100 Club???
