Title: 28mm inquisitor stuff pic heavy
Post by: Monkeychild on 30 December 2012, 09:34:24 AM
Just got back in to 28mm in the last few months after a good while doing 15mm, can't be bothered building armies anymore so now just build/paint what I fancy which fits pretty well with inquisitor warbands.

Great stuff. I've been reading the Eisenhorn books lately, and these definitely capture that Inquisition feel.

LOL. Those are great. Loads of character. Never saw the problem with scaling Inq down. Great storytelling/gaming potential

Oh and I loved the Eisenhorn books.

I've a soft spot for those old RT marines too.

Great work.

I've never seen sgt stone before tho..looks cool.

My word dude. Some lovely work there. Nice mix of old and new miniatures. Love the old Space Marine with Shuriken Catapult, and he fits in really well with the scouts. Is the dude on the left a conversion? Really nice work.  :o

Thanks everyone, Sgt Stone was one of the first minis i did after a 8 year lay off, didn't have the bits i wanted so the body and arms are gs.

@Diakon the two bolter dude is stock, I miss GW arming minis with just what ever looks  cool, he reminds me of the Goliath off the front of the Necromunda book.

some more shinys, originally done for fallout but they work as stand in guards men/henchmen ect.

Cracking stuff. This really is 40k at it's best, where the fluff takes over and the randomness shines.
Title: Re: 28mm inquisitor stuff pic heavy
Post by: cheetor on 31 December 2012, 02:19:11 PM

Nice stuff here.  The colour scheme on the Arbites is nice.  I have been slowly getting ready for some Inquisitor style gaming for a while now and I am hoping that 2013 will be the year that it comes to fruition.  Although I love the background in the Inquisitor rulebook I dont think that I will use that ruleset though.

The Eisenhorn books are good fun.  I have the Ravenor trilogy lined up to start soon.

Im looking forward to seeing more of this stuff.

Cheers Dudes, completely agree that its the fluff that makes 40k, loved the early rogue trader back ground like the starchild, the sensei, squat auxiliaries , beastmen ( in particular " beastman bad! naughty beastman, make emperor angry!") and for the same reason I love all the new Dan abnett stuff, Eisenhorn then the Ravenor trilogy carried that on, haven't got the first Bequin novel yet but from what Ive heard its more random goodness. Lord of the night is a really good read too, its seen from the point of view of a traitor marine and an inquisitors underling set in an imperial hive world.

Some nasty gribblies for the emperors servants to get eaten by

Wow, some super stuff there Monkeychild!  :-*

I'd also like to point you to the new cultists from the Dark Vengeance 40k starter (you can get them cheap from Ebay or such) as an excellent source of Dan Abnett-esque 40k goodness which I think would fit right in with your figs.  ;)

Great.
Some lovely convertions in there and nice PJs too.
I particularly like what you've done with the placcy 40K guardsmen.
Keep them coming, I'll be watching this space eagerly.

I too no longer want to paint large armies, much prefer your idea of paint what you like (works very well for skirmish type games) Very nice stuff you have & nicely painted.

I am pretty sure that the body, arms and metal finger/hands all come from the Mantic ghoul and/or zombie frames.  I dont recognise the head though, and thats what makes the whole thing work IMO.

Title: Re: 28mm inquisitor stuff pic heavy
Post by: Monkeychild on 03 January 2013, 06:13:35 AM
I used green stuff and lots and lots of swearing lol I basically made a GS sheet and let it cure a little bit, then I cut out a head hole and draped it over him. Needed a load of adding/taking off GS before it it looked even vaguely poncho like  :'(

Lovely work as already said. My only query is why the different basing? Would pull everything together if you stayed with either coins or slots.

Cheers.

I know I really need to sort my basing out. Most of my earlier minis were just slotta's as standard, then I started all unaltered Humans on 2pences to make marines ect bigger in comparison. I'm going to have to go through all of them and standardize them all eventually but Ive got the fear, as Ive rebased a few minis before and snapped legs and feet by mistake :'(

Got a couple finished ( more or less) today

I'm guessing those guardsmen were originally NCR troopers and Rangers? Absolutely brilliant!  :-*

@commissarmoody I like them but if I try and sneak anymore minis in the house the missus is going to castrate me, I really hoping I can trick her into thinking the big bag of ebay stormies I have coming can be passed off as really heavy junk mail lol

Yeah the pip boy is GSed and they are indeed NCR troopers, I went through a big fallout phase back when new vegas came out, Ive got a bunch of BOS and raiders done out some where that I need to shoehorn into the 40k universe.

They're from em4 troopers, The one with the sniper rifle is just a straight head swap and GS duster, the other has a heresy pistol for his hunting pistol. The only downside is that they are a little slight compared GW minis

Been a slow week so to mkae at least some dent in the lead mountain ( well resin) I rattled out a few ramshackle mini's. Thought I d do these because you pretty much can't convert them, they fit well with setting and they paint themselves. Not the greatest pics Im afraid

Finished what was supposed to be a techno barbarian but what has ended up as a henchman due to too much stuff added . His back story is that he is supposedly recruited from a tribe which worships a guy on a giant throne which requires skulls to sustain him, the inquisitor who found him either intentionally overlooked or assumed that this giant throne sitting dude is the emperor when he is clearly khorne.
started as this ( pic from EM$ miniatures)
