Title: What to buy for a newbie set?
Post by: Yostage on January 20, 2013, 03:47:29 PM
I've been looking at SA and thinking about buying it for a friend. What's a good purchase for a newbie? I saw on the store that there used to be starter bundles but those don't seem to exist anymore.

This bundle has all the miniatures you need for playing the game.

So you would recommend that plus the core rules?

We'll have a new rules bundle, containing the three in-print rulebooks at roughly a 10% discount, available Feb 1.  The old bundles combined rules with discounted miniatures, so this will be the first time we actually offer the books themselves at a cut rate.

That said, core rulebook + starter bundle does make for a great starting point, particularly if you're new to miniature gaming or don't already have suitable miniatures in your collection.

The starter deal is a good one. If I were to provide any model advice for the new player, I would caution against buying too many specialized creatures or monsters. Initially you'll need around a half-dozen cultists, as they'll be the core of most lurker lists.
