Some Red Box Games barbarians, really nice to paint.

A couple of Privateer Press types. Utter pain in the nethers. Hated doing em.
And this wee fella for myself:

Hope you likes. :)

One & all BEAUTIFULLY painted & based...the one you did for yourself, of course, is The Best of the lot. VERY WELL DONE!
Whoever is receiving these treasures should be one happy Dude...or Dame.

Painting minis for yourself?! You lazy so-and-so! ;) They are all great looking, but I find it hard to stomach the Privateer stuff. The Tre Manor stuff is great though! Especially the helmeted fellows.
-
The Privateer stuff looks like shite (the models not the pjs, you understand), but everything else had me slathering like a pervert in a playground.
On another note: did you ever finish the Chaos warband?
-
Marvellous! :-*
-
Very, very shiny :-* :-*
cheers

Thanks lads! :) I'm very pleased that you like them.

It was only the one, Sir! It won't happen again! lol

The Beasts one? Nah, not yet. Got sidetracked by shiny things and babies and paying work. Still got warbands for Tzeench, Nurgle, Slaanesh, Malal and generic Cultists to do as well - all of the figures, none of the time! ;D
-
Cracking work Jollybob :-*
-
They look great! I love that use of colour combination and technique. :)
-
What they all said - absolutely lovely work, Mr JollyBob sir.

Malal
Nutter!

Fantastic work on the barbarians and dwarf!

Hope you got paid well. Those are great paint jobs.
It's amazing how the smaller Red Box Games figures usually have more detail than the larger heroic figures and paint up even better.

Why are the PP models a pain to paint?

Why are the PP models a pain to paint?
Aside from the poses meaning they have to be cast as multipart figures that don't go together very well and need a fair bit of putty to hide the joins, they have a habit of being cluttered with oversized weapons and kit that really gets in the way and which I find quite annoying.
For example, the guy in the blue-ish armour is loaded down with a sword, bolo/chain thing, a bow and quiver and what appear to be two spellbooks crammed into the pockets of his overcoat. I'm sure there's a reason for it in game terms, but from an aesthetic point of view it looks like the sculptor was playing Equipment Buckaroo and tried to pile as much on as he could before the spring sprung.
Contrast that with the Red Box figures, who also have a lot of equipment. But in this case it looks like it belongs and doesn't get in the way of the figure's posing.
To be fair, the PP figs are well sculpted, they are just a bit overblown for my taste.

Got it. Thanks :D
