Title: Cut down on the gloss
Post by: racm32 on 24 January 2013, 12:05:06 PM
Ok so I have gotten in the habit of using Army Painter's Quick Shade to finish off my models buy it leaves them very shiny or glossy. Is there something I can apply to help reduce that effect? I remember hearing that there was along time ago but cant remember.
There are photos of my figures with the effect I'm talking about on my blog:

Army painter's Anti-shine (spraycan) gives good results for me ( but if you search on the forum you're sure to find different opinions)

As for brush on varnishes, go for Testors Dullcote (the square bottles, not the round ones) very matte effect and probably the favourite of a lot of people here.
I have also used valejo mat varnish in the past without complaints.
Recently I bought Matt clear from Gunze Sangyo and first tests seemes OK.

I would look for spray matt sealer or varnish.  When I get back over there I need to find something too so please let me know what you find.  B&Q is roughly equivalent to Home Depot or Lowels so it might be a good place to start looking.
Snitchy sends.

Ditto.

I never found a more matte varnish - I love it!
