Title: AWI Toy Soldier style (54mm)
Post by: DFlynSqrl on 30 January 2013, 12:43:09 AM
Last November I went to convention in my area and saw a company selling 54mm figures.  Of course this immediately had me reminiscing about playing with plastic figures in my childhood days so I was intrigued.  They had a demo table set up where you could also try out their rules.  I played several games and had a really good time... and also found myself walking away with two armies for the American War of Independence!

My first two units are skirmishers.  6 figures + 2 officers.

Casualties...

Continental Skirmishers.
I liked the purple color of the 4th Maryland Independent.  I'm guessing they probably started out blue but faded to purple during campaigning.  Anyway... it's very distinctive and colorful.

All the figures are from http://www.allthekingsmentoysoldiers.com/ (http://www.allthekingsmentoysoldiers.com/)
The figures are all metal.  The casualties are resin.

The rules "All The Kings Men" are pretty fast play.  It's card driven.  Lots of dice.  It kind of reminded me of playing Chess.  Over-all it seems like a simple game but the more you played it, the more the depth of the tactics available to you becomes apparent.

It's kind of fun painting the "big boys".

I love these figures.  Ken-the owner-is local to me and I see him at conventions a lot.  He's a great guy with great product.  Your figures are both better painted and more complete then mine.  I have an entire army of Americans for 1812 that are languishing on my table.

Great work.

Thank you very much Doomsdave.  You're right.  Ken is a really great guy.

I like his 1812 range too.  I hope to see some of your mini's in the near future.
