Having been inspired by much of the ridiculously good painting and modelling that goes on around here, I've returned to my long abandoned Gotham project with a couple of Heroclix repaints. I won't witter on too much (if you want more of that head over to my blog) but I thought I'd share; here are the Joker and Firefly:
(http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ao7_ew6At7M/UQ0nxsBAcAI/AAAAAAAABh8/UL2sBgZzf44/s320/photo+2.JPG) (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-b4s7xlFjLlY/UQ0ny2LevoI/AAAAAAAABiQ/a6PEsthdCkM/s1600/photo+5.JPG)
I'm always a little disappointed in my skills with a camera (mainly because it's my phone), however I feel that these are step up from my usual fair. If you have any suggestions for what I can do with Firefly's base, they'd be gratefully recieved, as I'm a bit stumped at the moment.
It's a small start, butI'm aiming to add a full rogue's gallery and scenery over time. To this end, I've already picked up the Eaglemoss Batmobile and I've got some Knight Models miniatures on order. The Heroclix sculpts I'm using will be the larger ones, so hopefully there won't be too much disparity between the ranges.
More to follow in time...

Lovely Mate!

Looks like a great start!

Well done...what did you use to do the newspaper on Joker's base? Also what bases are you using for them? Thanks for sharing.

Hitman

Thanks for the kind words.
The bases are simply 30mm round beveled bases from my local game store, similar to the ones you get in games like Warmachine. The road is simply a couple of layers of sand and PVA. (I'm all about value for money :) )
For the newspaper I just search for Gotham Newspaper on google to find something I like (I think this one was prop in 'The Dark Knight'), then copy/pasted into word and shrunk it for printing. Something I'm really pleased with is that close up you can just make out that it says 'Batman Saviour or Menace?'. I did consider painting the paper, but my free hand isn't good enough to make it look right, so I'm pleased that the lazy option worked.
-
With those villains running about, burning the city up, I thought it was about time to add a hero:
My Nightwing is a small conversion of Everest from the Crossover line. The head is from a GW Bretonnian Knight. I've said on another thread that this was a really nice model to paint. Crossover have definitely got themselves a new customer...
-
Nice, pre 52 reboot black on blue costume. Head choice is superb, I'll have to have a delve through my brettonian lead as im sure thats one of the grail knighs ive got.
Thanks for sharing.

It was Valentine's Day and love was in the air, so I thought I'd send Mister J a present in the mail: Harley Quinn.
I do have to own up and say that the highlighting you see is actually sunlight. I've left this model pretty much alone, simply tidying up the paint job. The mail box was lifted from another clix model, and might find itself replaced with a resin one at a later date.

Nice work Kieron. How 'bout some charred matchsticks, toothpicks or other wooden bits for Firefly's base?
-
Hello
Nice minis. How did you make the newspaper of Joker base?
Thanks
-
@Vauln
Thanks, that's what I eventually did, and I added some flames clipped off another miniature. I'll post an image when I've next got my camera out.
@carlosyc
Cheers. It was simply this image (I think it's a prop newspaper from 'The Dark Knight') reduced and printed. Nothing fancy:
http://www.thisnext.com/item/61EC061E/The-Gotham-Times (http://www.thisnext.com/item/61EC061E/The-Gotham-Times)
If you search 'Gotham Newspaper' you'll get a range of choices. I picked this one because the typeface was larger and so most likely to make sense when reduced.
I've been quiet this week because I'm working on my first building and it's a slow process.

It's about time that the Batman showed up. A simple Heroclix rebase and highlight. I'm once again stumped about basing ideas, and suggestions would be gratefully received (however, the cape actually makes this less of an issue). Also pictured is Firefly with the burning wood added to his base - could anybody give me some suggestions to improve the painting of the flames?
(http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6FZV-Q8-xZo/USoQxdqVagI/AAAAAAAABlY/iXXFe_gf9Hc/s320/photo+4.JPG)(http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_xktPU70Bik/USoQxuJKf_I/AAAAAAAABlg/09_LLM8yNQg/s320/photo+5.JPG)
This project isn't just about miniatures, its also about building a city! The first of my buildings is a warehouse from Warbases. I've still got the windows and roof to do, but it's coming along. I've gone for a grey palette on the walls to give a Gothic feel that will be echoed across all of my buildings.
(http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rMoZ_fnXxTc/USoQwNCKgrI/AAAAAAAABlE/S4rkc71yaso/s320/photo+1.JPG)(http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3kGL7j1dtqc/USoQwlwnINI/AAAAAAAABlQ/OTDQ0OTYxVQ/s320/photo+2.JPG)
Inside I've kept it simple; matt black walls and a printed paper floor to give the building maximum versatility. With terrain pieces added, I personally think it's doing the job well and has set a minimum standard for the rest of the city.

Batman looks brilliant. :)
I posted this to your blog, but here goes my advice on the flames:
The advice I follow is to reverse the sequence of colours that you would tend to follow for most things: from shade through to highlight.
Therefore, in the depths yellow or yellow white, working through to orange at the out tips of the flame.
Here is an example I did:

I printed the newspaper. It´s under the Reaper clown´s boot

Lovely Mate!

Nice touch on the burnt edges with the blowtorch clown. I'm a bit envious of your Joker too.
A Joker gang is on the agenda for me too, although I'm considering Eden Jokers for them.

I've decided what to put on Batman's base. I've had a go at sculpting the roses he leaves on Crime Alley (Park Row) for his parents each year. I'm a real beginner when it comes to sculpting, but I'm quite happy with them. The stems are a bit featureless and so I might add something to improve them later, but the colour contrast nicely with the rest of the model and to my eyes they at least look like what they're supposed to be...which was the goal...

Looks good to me. :) As does everything else. Great headswap on Nightwing, and I'm glad you went for Harley classic...

Apologies for the hiatus. We've been trying to sell the house and so my painting stuff has been put away for a while. Anyway, house now sold and I'm off and running again.(http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZfRWYD_Qqi8/UYfGi1kIkAI/AAAAAAAABns/lz4WV6kIo_E/s320/photo+1.JPG)
The Detective is Heroclix and the beat cop is my first Knight Models sculpt. I'm really pleased that they scale so well together despite worries about the size of the KM models. It's convinced me to continue to keep an eye on the KM range for sculpts I can't get decent (and cheaper) alternatives for - I've already bought Killer Croc and Mr Freeze.
(http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Qxj1Os8JSAg/UYfGjm-4nRI/AAAAAAAABoE/ZtdPQnCg194/s320/photo+3.JPG) (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZHa1WSEwrxo/UYfGj7JPTbI/AAAAAAAABn8/sABk_44_lnU/s320/photo+4.JPG)
I've still got to add GPD to the back of the beat cop's jacket (and possibly some traffic cones to his base. I'm also considering adding a couple of evidence markers to the Detective's base - the idea of which I really like although I'm not sure about my execution of it.
-
I finally got my first game of the Batman Miniatures Game in and I have to say I really like it. Here's a couple of pictures of the game in which Commissioner Gordon and a SWAT team try to bring the Clown Prince of Crime to justice:

Some new additions.
Robin, a.k.a. 'The Kid' from Crossover. Agent Ron and Mr. Freeze from Knight Models. At the bottom are some group shots of the models I've done so far.
I'd also appreciate suggestions for Robin's base and how to improve the face of Mr. Freeze. Thanks

It's been a while, but I've finally got going on my Batman project again thanks to a prod of motivation from Zomtober.
Here's my latest offering, a slightly cheaper version of Commissioner Gordon and the GCPD SWAT team using Heroclix figures.
There all usable in the Batman Miniatures game, although the guy with the shield needed some hand swapping and I'll need to use two cops with MG's rather than one with a Shotgun. However, I've notice that Knight Models have rather sensibly stopped providing links to PDFs of the game cards with their newest releases, which means that you have to buy their models to use the newer character in the game.
I can't complain with this decision, but it does mean that I'm likely to part company with the BMG, simply because at £12 a pop for the big names, there's no way I'll be able to afford everything that I want. I will still buy some of their models, but only when decent alternatives are unavailable.
-
I really like your Killer Kroc :D

A few more additions with some rather ropey photos. Scarecrow, two escaped convicts from Blackgate and the Jokermobile.

I'm kind of hoping it's just a delayed thing and they will be eventually put up. I like that I can recycle some of my other Heroclix figures for this game.

I've finally got around to a second game on my slowly developing game board. It was against myself to try out the rules of the Batman Miniatures Game again.

Just curios, but what did you make the Jokermobile out of?

It's an Ertl diecast model I picked up from eBay. Just search for Ertl Batman and you'll see several come up. It comes in a couple of different sizes, so you'll want one that's labelled as 1/43.

A few more henchmen done. Some official Joker crew and a a Chuck Norris lookalike knocked together from five different models.

Had a bit of a splurge on this project in the last couple of weeks. Not only have I added Poison Ivy, some plants and a smattering of terrain, I've also began to get some games in more regularly.
Here's Ivy:

Looks like Batman and Robin have their work cut out for them. The villains are taking over Gotham! Fantastic looking work you've got so far.
If you're looking to do cheaper sky-scraper type stuff, I think WorldWorks has a set of papercraft buildings that you might want to look into.
I'll be keeping an eye on your project, it's shaping up very nicely!
