Title: 40K RT era Orks
Post by: Suber on February 02, 2013, 07:00:15 PM
As I've already begin to show you my Second Ed. Orks (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=49930.0), I think it's time up to show you even older models.

Let's begin with a boar rider:

The head was sculpted with green stuff as I didn't have a suitable head.

This is a pretty old bike:

And really old looking

You can have some more pics here:

They are also part of a greater RT project which I will hopefully show you soon :).
But get ready for some nostalgia ;).

I still love those minis, they were great and provided so much fun...
I have some more of them, with their garish colours:

And a conversion to use as Warboss Snagrod the Arch-Arsonist of Charadon, RT style, of course:

Just a simple guy with some extra height, shoulderpads and stuff, nothing too elaborate, in accordance with the Ork bosses of that time.

That brought back some memories.
 :D

Nice work, Suber, they fit right in with the period paintwise.

Indeed a trip down the memory lane...  :? I wonder if my cousin still has all the orks we once used to collect as a joint project.

These were amusing to paint indeed. But I also played a campaign using RT rules again with these minis and that was absolutely fun. I encourage all WH40K gamers to do so and to recover the spirits of the game.

As you don't look encouraged enough, I'll keep on posting my prehistoric stuff :D

Back in the good old times, things like an albino Ork were absolutely plausible:

This was a character, Ulruk of Mergabenurga, and was described indeed as an albino Ork, no invention on my part. I thought of making it completely white, but I rather went on a vitiligo affection, don't know why, but it looked more natural. Maybe some day I'll paint a completely white one.

I'm showing you a couple Dreadnoughts too:

You can see this one is specially ambiented in the Rynn's World campaign ;)

And this is the little brother. Both were fun to paint, and even more to play.

Back when Orks had character and style.  When being in a specific clan meant something.  The good old days when if you needed some money, you bashed your ork buddy in the head and pulled his teeth.

And Best of All, back when you slapped Red paint on it to make it go fasta

So much charisma in the old Ork sculpts, and those dreadnoughts will always look cool as hell to me. Great stuff.

Hey Suber, these all look amazing, you really hit the nail on the head with these paint jobs; uber Orkyness. Reds, yellows, flames, checks, just fantastic. I have some of these, you are making me want to paint some.

Cheers,
 Damien

Haha, thank you all! I think that the essence of those years was precisely these bright shiny colours and the possibility of doing anything you could imagine, as absurd it could look. Much has been lost since then...
