Got to play my first game of Bolt Action last night and had a great time. I've put up some pictures and initial thoughts on the rules on my blog at: http://jayswargamingmadness.blogspot.com/2013/02/bolt-action-ww2-rules-first-impressions.html (http://jayswargamingmadness.blogspot.com/2013/02/bolt-action-ww2-rules-first-impressions.html)

Nice report! Had my first game too, last Saturday. Still in the process of making alot of terrain as well, so I know how it feels ;-)

Excellent! Happy to hear I'm not alone lol

Thanks for the report and review. Should get the rules myself, hopefully will get to field a small force of Soviets against my friends Germans in the summer.
Nice scenery and minis, how long did the game last and how many points you got per side, around 500?

Very nice AAR. Have you played the "Disposable Heroes" by Iron Ivan? I'm curious how the Bolt Action rules might compare? Thanks for sharing.

The rules are great and the game can be quite fluid/fast and fun, the book has amazing illustrations and pictures!
It brought a very welcome light to 28mm wargaming and it will be a very good rule book for some time towards the future in my opinion!

@pocoloco - game was around 1.5 hours ... 500pts (very near) per side.
@Captain_Hook - Unfortunately I've not play "Disposable Heroes" ... but that being said, I've found the WW2 rule set for me :-)
@Gothic Line - Couldn't agree more! :-)

Captain_Hook: Disposable heroes is a very good ruleset too. But you can't really compare it to Bolt Action imo. Bolt Action is much more simplified, it's aimed more at a fast gameplay.
