Title: interesting find from Zvezda...
Post by: Arrigo on 05 February 2013, 07:28:39 PM
Ok,

I was looking to see if I was able to look at upcoming models from Zvezda art of tactic to add some inexpensive stuff to my WW2 armies when...

http://models2u.co.uk/Shop/contents/en-uk/d2121.html

I found that... it seems this summer Zvezda will go modern with BTR80, T72, M2A2 and M1A1 in 1/100 plus Hind, Apache in 1/144 and the the usual infantry in 1/72. It looks a quite interesting decision. I hope in some Leo and other stuff... using googlefu for pictures now...

some images...

ok 2013 line up (even a T-35 for WW2 I am happy!) The T-72 appears to be a BV so it could also pass for a Syrian or Iranian ERA one.

interesting - these look a lot like digital models
I wonder whether they are scanned or CGI....

from what I have gleaned Zvezda uses digital sculpting. Because the modern stuff is supposed to come out in summer 2013 they have some 3D model and placeholder boxes. They did before when they announced some of their art of tactic news.  Hopefully we will see some real image very soon. I think hat the 3D things are the product of the initial digital sculpting. but I want to see them in plastic. Looking forward to them, I would have hoped for some BMP-1 and -2 too.

Here's a photo of some of the minis from the starting set:

The Abrams looks a bit simplified, but the rest is great!

It's from this gallery: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.331663336933735.58364.285078148258921&type=1
Unfortunately, there are no other photos of the new kits.

I myself can't wait till these are released... I've been using 1/100 WW2 kits as bases for scratchbuilt s-f vehicles, but these will be even better!
Plus I'm definitely buying one Mi-24 just to put it on my desk. :)

Though I wonder why they chose to release the BTR-80 instead of a BMP, which would be a more appropriate opponent for the Bradley.
(On the other hand, it gives me a cheap wheeled chassis for conversions.)

The first 8 sets have appeared in one of Polish shops for preordering. The interesting thing is that the vehicles (both ground and helis) cost twice as much as Zvezda's WW2 sets.

Interesting. But for around US$15 dollars a 1/100 helicopter this ain't too bad.

there is also the fact that the modern stuff tends to be bigger.

Well, Abrams tank is only a bit longer and wider than a KV-2 (which is much higher), yet the price for the KV is the same as for all other WW2 sets, while Abrams is twice as expensive.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's expensive - just thought that I'll give you a small update.

It seems that Zvezda has set up a page for this new game - Hot War - and they did it quite a time a go, judging from the dates: http://www.hotwar1990.com/
You can see photos of the first three sets:
- BTR-80
(http://www.hotwar1990.com/images/sets/2.jpg)
- Russian infantry
(http://www.hotwar1990.com/images/sets/4.jpg)
- American infantry
(http://www.hotwar1990.com/images/sets/7.jpg)

I really like what I see, though this double pose in the American set is a bit disappointing.

The details on the Abrams are poor, but the T-72 is so cool!

The details on the abrams are not poor, actually I think the detail are good, it is that the M1A1 is quite clean and the Smoke dischargers and the  machine guns are missing. This is quite obvious. Other than that a proper kitting up with the stowage common on the M1A1 would make it a nice model.

I just wish their figures were the same scale as the tanks.  :(

+1.000.000

I collecto both scales, but in 15mm (1/100) we need infantry. Wen I saw it, I just only think in call of duty!!!!!! ;D ;D
