Title: First order from Crossover
Post by: wellender on February 08, 2013, 04:34:31 PM
I just got my first set of Crossover miniatures and they are great.  Awesome service and fantastic miniatures.  The head system works great.

I saw they are thinking about a new Kickstarter and thought of an idea.  How about some female paramilitary goons or at least a female leader type.  Could use a stand in for Sharon Carter.

How about well armed thugs, ninjas, or cops?  They should all be seen soon...

No problem.  Actually, the paramilitary goons would work great in any kind of near future setting.  Useful for things outside of supers.  In fact a bunch of them can fit into other settings as well, just have to think outside the box a little.

That said, I really am looking forward to thugs, ninjas, and cops.  Can never have enough of them.

I'm waiting for your next KS campaign to see if I can somehow nab the whole range at some point... :D

I bought and painted my first Crossover mini this week, and I have say that it is one of the cleanest casts I ever bought. Absolutely no time was needed to clean flash or file mould lines and the seperate head meant that the head swap I'd planned was half done for me (and I've now got three interesting heads for future stuff). It was doddle to paint too.

I'll be getting more in time, and I'm keen to see what the next release holds.

Oh ho! How soon is soon? ;)

I learned during my last KickStarter that it's hard to make a deadline that's so far out.  :)  I had wanted to have it run in November and fulfilled in Dec or Jan.   That didn't work out.

I've expanded the team so we can run on a tighter schedule.  ALL the heads are finished, 2 greens are complete.  4 greens are 95% finished.  4 more greens are 60% finished, complete legs and armature torsos and arms.  4 more greens are 80% finished, torso details and a few arms to finish.

I just checked with the molders today, they say send them the goods anytime.

So I'm going to send away the first few greens and heads to go in the first master.  WHEN those come back and are physically in our hands, I'll start the kickstater and run it for 25 days.  During that time, we'll attach the heads to the remaining greens.

I've got the cash from the first KS to pay for the greens, so the new kickstarter will have a low goal for success.  I'll only need to cover the costs of molding and production.  It'll likely consist of 2 of the sets of minions and 2 individual minions for X dollars.  with 2 more possible sets of minions as stretch goals and freebie command figures as stretch goals as well.

I'm still a little disappointed in myself for not having it out by now.  The best I can say is that it's eminent, but I'm a guy who likes to do what he says so I won't give a date until I know it's solid.   :D

You can be sure I'll be shouting it from the rooftops when it's ready.   ;)

I think  Nov-Dec is a bad time for a Kickstarter to be honest. I know I would be hard pressed to pledge at that time due to the holidays. I would even consider a 30 day range to allow for different times people are paid. Looking forward to the new stuff...been slowly painting everything now...got about a dozen supers painted. Just got a new camera also!
