Title: Banana Wars
Post by: doowopapocalypse on 16 February 2013, 03:06:12 PM
Not sure if it should be here or Interwar, but just out of curiosity, does anyone do any Banana Wars gaming? Links, rules, figure suggestions appreciated.

Brigade has marines and Sandanistas in their Carribean Empires line.

Pulp Figures have some great US Marines.

Old Glory Spanish American War and Pershing ranges are also suitable.

Both these ranges are compatible.

Tiger/HLBS also have sailors but they are a bit bigger but still very nice:

I just picked up a biography of Smedley Butler (Devil Dog from Pulp histories) that had some brief description of a couple of actions in Haiti and Nicaraugua. Inspiring stuff, definetly in the colonial model of the well armed whiteman vs the native rabble.

On the otherhand I knew a marine who had served in the late 30's who had horror stories. He swore the Pacific campaign in WWII had better conditions and was easier than his time on embassy and train guard.

Thanks for the responses, all. Cory, Butler was certainly an interesting character.

I gamed this for a while and to be honest the games became very samey after a while. So I ended up swapping the figures.
I used Pulp miniatures US marines and sailors against Foundry Mexicans. Foe rules it was simply LOTOW with slight amendments to cover the Marine auto weapons.
