Title: Scratchbuilding some wagon wheels in styrene
Post by: floating white bear on February 17, 2013, 07:45:56 PM
Started some work on a sling cart for ACW 28s. I need some large multi-spoked wheels, and I really need to figure out how to get these things cast!  I could just build the wheels needed, but...that's too much like work.  I have built a master and will see if I can't figure out how to cast the wheels I will need.
Attached is a picture of an ACW sling cart, basically a wheeled limber for moving large guns. Also shown is a wheel on my wheel building jig--just a fancy title for a hunk of 1x2!
There are some more pictures and some details on the blog and flicker.
Thanks for the continuing support and words of encouragement! regards, Rob.

I thought I had the patent on the 1x2 building jig - oh hang on, that was the 2x1! Sorry!

Lovely work though. I did toy with idea of building cart wheels once and lost the will to live, so I admire your skill and perseverance hugely!

You dont need any encouragement or advice if you have the skill and patience to make wheels like that.  I for one am extremely jealous.

I have watched your ACW builds with great admiration.  These wheels are amazing.  I hope that yoe eventually move into pulp builds.
