Title: 1st Napoleonic Figs
Post by: cmsciulli on 18 February 2013, 05:17:41 PM
This lovely blog inspired me to give a go at Napoleonic figures: http://over-open-sights.blogspot.com/

I started out by painting a unit of Perry French Hussars which I donated to the annual Toys for Tots auction at HMGS Fall-In! last year.  I think they went for over $120 USD:

I picked the 3rd because of the pink Trumpeter!

Next up, I was inspired by this Andrea Miniatures model
(http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=61360)

which is based off of a painting by Edourd Detaille "The Trophy"

I thought I could try a conversion of a Perry plastic Dragoon (flag is by The Flag Dude):

This figure was also auctioned off for Toys for Tots.

Then, since I was on a Nappy role, I thought I might try doing a conversion/vignette.  Making dioramas and vignettes for display is something I really want to start doing.

This vignette was inspired by Keith Rocco's "A Chasseur's Fate."  He even signed it for me at a convention :-)

The same summer I was working on the Hussars, the Dragoon and the Chasseurs, I was commissioned to paint up some French Command stands:

Very nice work all around.  I really like the detailed groundcover on your bases.  Keep showing them off here!

Thanks!

If these men are man enough to wear pink, then they can be man enough to have flowers on their bases!  ;D

Hi there,

I like what I see - it's quite unusual to see 28mm figs being used for dioramas.

I wonder if there are more guys out there buidling dioramas rather then do gaming.

Cheers,

Frank
