Title: Sneak Peaks at Crossover's Next KS (updated May 13th with Copper)
Post by: fergal on February 25, 2013, 11:11:02 PM
Just putting some finishing touches on some of the first greens for our next kickstarter.  One head to tweak and a few niggling things, then our first master molds worth of figures are off to the mold makers. It's got a few figures and ALL the heads in it.   Once those are in our hands and inspected, I'll fire up the Kickstarter for 25 days.

So we should have the kinks done by the end of the week, off to the mold makers (they usually say 2-3 weeks, but can happen quicker), and transit time both ways (both within the UK).  Then we are live.

I'll post a few tasters down here in the meantime.

ninja time

More teasers? At least tell us what the levels are that we need to save our cash for!

Hi Styx,  I know you prefer to know ahead of time so you can plan finances.  I have learned through my last experience that I shouldn't give that info until it's set in stone.  Otherwise I might have put out a lot of wrong info about the project. I had originally planned to have it go live in November, so things tend to change.  Right now, I'm hoping for about 2-4 weeks, everything should be live then.  Prices won't be wildly different than the last one though, with the exception of not offering custom figures this time.  Hope that helps.

All Soapy sculpts I hope? :D

Eather, most started as Soapy sculpts but his schedule never opened up enough for all the figures to be produced by him. He started 12 figures, 4 are 95% his work, 4 are 80%, and 4 are 50% his work.

I've found another sculptor who is finishing them and we are trying to match his style as much as possible to keep things consistent.  We will use multiple sculptors going forward as experience has shown that to keep new things coming I've got to have a few irons in the fire.

Ahh commander, bit soon for a bump, eh?   lol  The figures coming out now were conceived in July and are still 2-3 months from holding in my hand.  You won't see it this round, but I'll keep it in consideration for future releases.

I'm interested to see what turns up this time around. My recommendations would be:

Tough/lumpy skin
Stretch ability
A boarder (skate-board/surfboard/jet-wing)
A web/rope swinger

... and I'd love to see something like Puck's size with different gear.

yea, looks like my second speedster will be joining my minis!

So, are we looking at April, May or June as the KS estimated time to start?

Thanks Stix,

So, are we looking at April, May or June as the KS estimated time to start?

I was literally 4 days away from hitting the start button the kickstarter when the sculptor dropped out in Feb.  It was a pretty low day.  I've since found two different folks to work with.  One has sent greens to the molder*, 3 bodies and all the goon heads.  Another sculptor has just finished this speedster, is 80% done with the second super.  We have 4 more on tap for the end of April.  I'd love to go in the next four weeks, BUT I've never been right yet, so no date, but I'm trying to do everything in my power to make it happen SOON.

*edit, it originally said sculptor where it now says molder, molder is correct

Heh, no rush really....I am stalking the Robotech KS also, so I have to pending ones that are going to crop up soon! Plus I have a gaming Trip in May so I am trying to budget my cash to ensure I am ready to pledge for both!

Hot off the presses.

This is one of the figures that started it all.  Great to hold in my hand and paint after a very long time.  The first ninja and all the heads are finished.

Thanks for the kind comments guys.  I'm VERY excited about these lads.

Here's a version that's more traditional, then the traditional ninja along side the comic book ninja. :)

Both

I wish I could photograph the black better, but I think it shows the versatility of the figure.

First highlight or dry brush grey over the black to give it depth to the texture. Then you have to wash it with lots of light to get a good image. Black absorbs light and heat(which is why black clothing and cars are so hot as they absorb heat on hot sunny days).

Ninja's good ones aswell by the look of it :D.

With Black I drybrush with a light grey and then wash with a black ink which darken's it back down again. it keep the highlights but re darken the recesses.

Here's a guy I really love.  There are three different very different heads, giving you some great options for hired muscle.

Got a bank job?  This could be your fellow!

Ditto. Consider at least one sold!

Will this be part of a group pack like the minions?

He's got three mates at the moment and we're going to add a command figure with a hand cannon too.  The command figure is a stretch goal, but he'll be available in the store if he's achieved. :)

With the minions, I'm going to be rolling out packs of four generally. I'm also shooting for a low level command type of each.  Only a slight command type figure as the real leader should be a super villain of some sort.

I was going to get the clix Joker henchmen or use some Eden miniatures for my Joker gang, but these look perfect.

When does the KS start?

Sorry to have gone quiet on this, I'll let you know when I know. :)  I don't want to give a date and be wrong, I've been scuppered EVERY time I thought I was close.  I currently think that I am VERY, VERY CLOSE, possibly a number of days away.  But no dates till I really know.

Rest assured, I'll shout from the rooftops when it's ready!   lol

I will say the KS is immenent, I'd love to see it start by the end of the month.  Probably just jinxed it right there but there you go.  I was about 48 hours away from launching in Feb, so I tend to not get my hopes up too much at this point. ::)

We're looking at 5 supers and 3 sets of goons, with about 4 stretch goals in the can.  This one's all about the minions with a side of heroes.

I can wait on the Ninjas but the thugs are pretty snappy, have to see what the last set of goons are...I admit I still plan to snarf up the supers first...so far a speedy....guess we will have to wait for more teases!
