I've been (slowly) painting up the contents of my Hobbit box set and a box of Warg Riders. The other day, I decided to gather up what I've finished and have a little skirmish. The full tale of Thorin and some of his trust companions getting ambushed on the way up the Misty Mountains is told on my blog: http://therenaissancetroll.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/the-foothills-of-misty-mountains.html (http://therenaissancetroll.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/the-foothills-of-misty-mountains.html).

Lots of hacking amd slaying. Translating a battle report into moving pictures in my head is a big part of the fun and I could just see the action unfolding like a movie. Isn't it unerving when your killing machine absolutely has no intention of ever winning a fight? I hate when that happens - yet it makes for great scenes in any movie - and especially for Thorin whose job it is to look gloomy and doomridden most of the time.

Considering Thorin's big fight in the movie sees him quickly munched on by a warg before being tossed aside, I suppose it is appropriate...

Exactly the scene I had in mind. But it makes for great moments of drama.
