I think this is my first post on this board! Anyway, just to save time I'll quote from my blog...
"A 1/600 scale Greek Trireme from Xyston Miniatures. Not my usual fayre but it was good to try something a bit different. I've never painted anything along these lines before and it kind of makes me want to paint up my Dreadfleet stuff but I simply don't have time to mess about with that at the moment. The eye emblem is a decal I made up as I got sick of trying to paint two identical eyes (one on either side). I made the sea base myself which again was a first for me and I think it came out alright. The rigging is 5 amp fuse wire tied and knotted around the masts and held firm with a drop of superglue. I wasn't too sure how to fix the wire to the deck in a manner that would keep it taut so ended up drilling into the deck and right through the model and base (very time consuming with only a pin vice and drill bit) which meant I was then able to thread the wire through, pull it tight and then flood the hole with superglue to hold it."

That is really nice. I have always meant to pick some of these but have never been able to justify a completely new theme to the lead pile.......

Wow, quite an effort for such a small piece. 8) And an excellent result.

Lovely!

Very nice and the base looks really good! For some reason I was thinking that this would have been a winning LAF round.

What a surprise to meet you here, on this board :) And what a smashing piece of painting, bravo!
More to come?

It was just a random commission. Although having popped my boating cherry I'd be a little more confident about doing similar stuff. No time to do anything for myself though unfortunately.
Glad it's going down well and thanks for the comments chaps. :)

Very clean paint job! Cool! I love the wee crewmen!

That's great.
I saw a load of them on a bring and buy once - still wish I'd gone mad and bought them.

A terrific paint job. Makes me wonder where all my old Valiant galleys got to...
