Ok, so last meet at my local club there was a 15mm 100 year war game. That got me thinking again how much I would love to do some Medieval period games. I'd like to paint up two small apposing forces (cause no one else here has any) just to get started. 15mm is a bit small for my taste and I have normally proffered 28mm. However I have recently done some 20mm modern and found that the quality of sculpting was still adequate and the cost much easer for me to handle. All that said I was hoping you all could make some suggestions on scale, rules, dealers and a period that might be a good place to start.

28mm War of the Roses/Late Medieval Europe 1450 onwards - Perry Miniatures do plastics to back up their smaller range of metals, so an infinite variety of figures. About as cheap as you'll get while being top quality figures.
20mm Medieval is not my bag, but 'Paul' on here has quite a few. Again they are mostly plastic, but there's quite a variety in what he's shown here.
These might wet your appetite;

Silent Invaders WotR (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=36158.0) - There's a link to his rules some where in there.
I could be here all night to be honest, there are a number of threads in the pages of this board of equal standard...
If 'Skirmish' gaming isn't your thing, I gather 'Impetus' are a popular rule set for actual battles... but I don't know anything about them to be honest.
