I started work on a new commission this week. Some Warlord Pike & Shotte stuff consisting of an agitator and a small crowd of armed rabble.

The first few are painted and I'm rather enjoying doing them.

Those are very nice! :)

Just gorgeous!
Cheers,

I really like the reflection of the torch that you painted on the biddy!

Beautiful. Love the colors and the way you reflect the flame off the woman's dress. I believe I seen you do that before with the Empire of the Dead Dr. Watson. Just outstanding stuff. Richard
-
Very excellent work again. Would be interesting to see your paints on cromwell.
-
Very nicely done :)

I could use those figures for Portuguese vs Dutch in Brazil. ::)

Great figures full of character and extremely well painted in some quite artictic tones.
Well done.

really nice... :-*

Lovely work - you have just sparked an interest in a period/range of figures I had never really thought about before!

Lovely paintjob. Really like your painting style., Can I just ask what you find is the easiest way of removing integral bases from miniatures? I've tried a few techniques to varying success but they are all an absolute pain!

My technique is also a pain unfortunately. I clip the base off close to the feet to reduce the surface area (not removing any between the feet though) and then begin the slice bits of the remaining base off the bottom with a knife. Once there's a thin piece of base left I begin to file the left over metal away by rubbing it on a large file (not sure if what I have is a wood or metal file but I know I could do with a new one!). Once the imprint of the feet appear in the thin metal you can usually just peel it away and clean the edges of the feet up. It's time consuming and ends up being quite painful as well if you're doing it all day.

Thanks for sharing. That's pretty much my technique was hoping you could end my base removing woes.

A quick pic of the next four models painted up.

These are proving rather enjoyable to paint. Which is good. :D

:o :o :o
Wonderful!!

So good o_o

Fantastic! I love the light effect of the flame. :-*
-
Would be excellent for games of Witchfinder General, or Zombies and Pikes. (Especially the guy with the torch!)
-
Thanks for the comments everyone.
Here are a few more quick pics. Just three more models to go.

These are awesome! What do you use for the bases? Also, what paints are those, your blending is superb!

The bases are resin and were supplied by the client but I think they're from Fenris Games (25mm diameter ones).
As for the paints I mostly use Vallejo from across all their ranges, but the blending is more down to technique than paint branding. If I ever figure out what to upgrade my laptop to and can get a suitable camcorder then I'll try and do a tutorial or two (anyone know anything about computers or camcorders pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaase offer your advice ;) ).

Stone-cold-lead, yet another wonderful bunch :o. Each group looks stunning, beautifully painted and based. Looking forward to more....

You can make good movies with all digital cams. What cam do you use???

I've never used a camcorder in my life so it's completely new territory for me. Nearly bought one around christmas (can't remember which one now) but didn't bother when I learned it didn't have an external mic input and that I'd likely have to record audio seperately (a forward facing mic on the cam isn't great when it's pointed over your shoulder). My main concern was getting a cam that has decent macro settings and that's not going to show a load of motion blur.

It will be easier, when you put the cam fixed on a tripod. Then you film your tutorial-stuff. After this you can record the audio in a computer.

I love how these figures turn out. They're really beautiful! :-*

These guys are for my ever ongoing Gierburg (http://cianty-tabletop.blogspot.com/search/label/Gierburg) project. The Rebellion is one of the factions.

Like Simon already explained, these are resin bases from Fenris Games. I use them for all my "urban medieval" figures. Here's a direct link (http://www.fenrisgames.com/shop.html#!/~/product/category=2202457&id=12651218) to the product.

Always nice to see your latest work Mr Lead!! Fantastic! :-* :-*

Well I finished off the rest of the models for this little bunch so here's a group shot.

There are more pics of the individual models on Blogger (http://stonecoldlead.blogspot.co.uk/) or in my gallery (http://stonecoldlead.webs.com/apps/photos/album?albumid=14606610), whichever suits you best.
Whilst I've been touting these as English Civil War types (which they are after all meant to represent) these models are actually for a fictional project by Cianty, The Free City of Gierburg which you can read more about HERE on his blog (http://cianty-tabletop.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Gierburg).

That's beautiful! Richard

really impressed with the painting! :)

Truly Stunning! :-*

Fantastic!!!!! :-*

These could be used for the Monmouth rebellion too. The CID

Beautiful work as ever. Subtle yet sumptuous :)
Can't abide the slotta bases - so visually intrusive, with that great big black plinth... But I guess that's just down to what you're used to.
-
Very nice indeed, S-C-L. You might suggest to the buyer that he adds some odds and ends to break up the monotony of those vast empty bases - litter, loose stones, some vegetation growing between the paving stones, a stray cat, perhaps?
-
Finally got around to making a little photo session with my new beauties. :)

Same here- nothing but admiration (and maybe a little envy ;)) from me.

Nothing like a fine rabble, except maybe those excellent buildings behind them! Well done.
No doubt, they are rabble-rousing for the True and Rightful King, and not that Rebelle Cromwell... lol
