Hi,
Is there a good source of online info and books about the war?
-
There are a couple of books by an author called Trevelynn, I may have a copy I can let you have Nuno.

Hi, in english i know the following books:
Garibaldi's defence of the roman republic 1848/49 George Trevelyan -
Radetzky's marches - the campaigns of 1848 and 1849 in upper Italy.
If you are interested in italian source too I could send you some title that you can find on google book
Regards
Diego

Thanks Geoff. Very interested in any book about this period. Radetzky's Marches is a bit pricey, some copies reaching three digits, so I'll probably dig around for info. Google books and the Internet Archive are a good source of old publications.
Diego,
Pelase send me those titles. I can handle Italian. There's probably good information in German but that I can't read.
Cheers,
Nuno

I couldn't find "Radetzky's Marches" (great title, though!), but archive.org lists a couple of books by Trevelyan: http://archive.org/search.php?query=George%20Trevelyan%20garibaldi%20AND%20mediatype%3Atexts (http://archive.org/search.php?query=George%20Trevelyan%20garibaldi%20AND%20mediatype%3Atexts)

An Austrian German line is on the sculpting table currently
-
An Austrian German line is on the sculpting table currently
Great!
Any French for the 1849 siege of Rome planned?
-
None planned, as currently concentrating on Hungarian war but you could use French from Crimean Wars range by Great War Miniatures as well as French from Perry Miniatures Carlist Wars range I suspect!
-
Well, the Perries have the wrong headgear and the GWM with shako do not have any fighting poses. I guess I have to chop some heads ;)
-
If size is not a problem look at The Foundry Crimean French not sure if they are suitable for your needs.
-
Once the German line is off the sculpting table , I will ask the sculptor to undertake a Hungarian regular wearing a fatigue cap, this csn also be painted as a Grenzer
-
Great subject and a terrific start to this line
-
Whilst for me all of the Austrian figs are destined to fight in Hungary, my co-commissioner is geared to fighting The Italian campaigns.....we are collaborating on those figs that fulfil both our needs.

Austrians in Italy
-
For Italian irregular militia Gringos40 have their Picciotti, Sardinians can be used from Foundrys Crimean range as long as you dont mind the fact they arecsnall 28mm
-
The Picciotti of gringo's (very beautiful) are useful for some of the irregular formation but not for all (even the Neapolitan troops can be used)
The Annex depicting various groups of volunteers.
the 1848 Piedmontese army uniform differs from that of the Crimean foundry.
here a link to an italian reenactment group:
http://www.battaglia1849.altervista.org/Fanteria.htm
the difference is evident in the epaulettes

Do you happen to know any good uniform books?
-
below links to two books that I own with color plates an Austrian army and a Neapolitan army of the period. It 'also available a book of Quinto Cenni drawings (third link) some of these boards are available in internet (type: Qunito Outline tables). Unfortunately I know of no other books or are discontinued.

The Victorian Outpost is a new building created at the beginning of 2016, we can cater for almost any period and we now have the support of "Adrians Walls" and "Hovels Buildings" who have come on board.
Victorian Outpost has quickly become the number one wargaming place in Grimsby with its friendly welcome and fun place to visit, please pm myself to arrange a set time and date.
