Title: 20´ISO container in 1/60 scale
Post by: Michi on March 09, 2013, 09:24:01 PM

The thing is finished now, totally built from scratch. The vehicles are 1/64 scale for comparison. I made the container in exact 1/60 scale to make it fit to 1/56 as well, because both scales are in use with 28mm gaming miniatures.

I tried not to over-detail it, but still get enough typical features to let people recognize it at first glance.
Now it needs to be cast, because I need LOTS of them...

Cast them like pearls before swine...
 :)
Very nice work and yes it is instantly recognizable. IIRC there are companies who make accessories for model railroads that do suitable decals for Nedlloyd and other major shipping firms.

I am looking forward to having them cast. I will update this topic when available.

The Trans Am is a 1/64 Greenlight model of the 1980 Pontiac Firebird.
2 available on Ebay Germany: http://www.ebay.de/itm/80-Pontiac-Firebird-T-A-1980-Smokey-The-Bandit-II-Greenlight-1-64-OVP-/271163282638?pt=Spielzeugautos&hash=item3f229754ce

And the 1977 Trans Am from the first Smokey&Bandit too: http://www.ebay.de/itm/77-Pontiac-Firebird-T-A-1977-Smokey-The-Bandit-Greenlight-Hollywood-1-64-OVP-/390543470566?pt=Spielzeugautos&hash=item5aee346fe6

The container is looking real good. Glad to see it finished. Castings will come handy for so many projects.

As for the Trans Am, the '79 is a much better body style. Slightly different front. A bit shorter and stockier than the '77 - '78 year models.
And keep in mind, the car in the second movie was a '81 not an '80.

That's an awesome build! I just watched (again) the Duel week or so ago, your build is a great homage to that movie. Have you used it for gaming?

Regretfully not yet due to very limited gaming time. I only manage to build or paint something at the moment but haven´t much time for gaming.

Great stuff indeed! I still don't know what for, but most probably I will be needing some of those if you cast them...

I would...
But I will start casting one after the other and see how long the mould will last.

years and years have passed,

don't touch his container!

Wow, these are absolutely great. Stunning brushwork there, I can taste the rust.

I have a few of the old AT-43 ones, and I am always on the lookout for more, but these look the business! Talk to us of casting and selling, please.

Thanks, these are generic for any modern/postapocalyptic game, no particular plans other than they´ll provide excellent cover and blocking of LOS. Anyway you can put up a labyrinth by using them as seen in many gangster movies.

Very clever bit of painting there. Took me a while to clock it. I was wondering if you had used stencils or transfers for a time. Great modelling too.
