What you want is a copy of Robson's Crisis on the Frontier, The Third Afghan War and the Campaign in Waziristan 1919-20. Excellent book.

I got this one:

Not really in a position to recommend it on the grounds that I ain't actually read it yet (I am rather backed up in that department), but his book "Fuzzy Wuzzy", on the two campaigns on Sudan's Red Sea coast is excellent, so I know he writes good stuff.
Edit: Scooped by Carlos. :)
One thing, I think it may be out of print, rather expensive on Amazon at the minute, and that's for second-hand copies... :-[

Try searching archive.org they have lots of stuff from the period scanned and available to download for free such as:

You'll also find this site useful: http://www.king-emperor.com/
especially

and

Look in the photos section and you'll see some wonderful photos of India built armoured cars.
If you are interested in air support and control from 1919, I'd recommend getting a copy of Chaz Bowyer's RAF Operations 1918-1938, there are several chapters on air control on the Frontier as well as some excellent photos of the aircraft and their targets. You can occasionally find this fairly cheaply in secondhand book shops.

If you like fictional inspiration then there is always Wallace Breem' s "THe leopard and the cliff" He is probably better known for "they eagle in winter" but this novel about a Waziristan militia Bn. is a cracking read.

Hey guys,
Many thanks for your suggestions. Now I will start to do some serious book-chasing!
