Title: Looking for info on Franco-Burgundian 1477 war
Post by: max on March 18, 2013, 07:38:25 PM
To satisfy a personal need for knowledge and with the possibilty of assembling a small force of French and Burgundians (famous last words  ::)) i was wondering if anyone knew of any history books concerning the war between the French and the Burgundians 1477-1478; Louis XI, Marie and Maxamillian of Austria...
I looked on Amazon but couldn't really find anthing useful. In English or French, i don't mind and there might be more about the subject in French.

The only thing I know of in French is;

Sablon du Corail, A. (2001) Aspects militaires de la guerre pour la succession de Bourgogne, de Nancy au traité d’Arras (5 janvier 1477-23 décembre 1482), Ecole Nationale des Chartes.

Otherwise there is Verbruggen's Guinegatte book in Flemish or rarer English (and maybe French?) translations, which despite the title, covers from the death of Charles the Bold.

If you're planning on 'Ordonnance' Burgundians, I was not able to find any reference to them surviving Charles, although the garrisons in Picardy and Artois must have been Ducal troops initially. Marie's army was raised under a fresh 'Ordonnance' and based on the civic militia structure and the old Ban system and this Ordonnance was replaced by a further one at the end of the Summer.
