Hi, today I ordered around 100 plastic zombies (Studio miniatures plastic male zombies, Wargame factory female zombies),. Nice quality, and very good price.
Now, I'm currently searching for generic zombie hunters, survivors, gangers, etc... For my future 28mm zombie setup (all thing zombie ruleset).
Since I'm on budget, I'm wondering if you know any good cheap solution for that ? Like boxed set, pack, or something like that. In one word, a solution to populate my tabletop city on budget.
Thank you for your ideas !

Wargames Factory have these multi-part plastics coming out soon...

These are rather nice... Depending on the price off course

I think they're great. According to their facebook page there should be 30 minis to a box and around the same price as their other kits so not bad at all.

well, i'm not shure it would be the best policy, in that case: they are offering a set of 30 survivors instead of giving more variety among them. i'd rather buy a 15 survivors set with the double of different options for the same price, since i'm rarely gonna use more than one cop, one child, one man with the tank shirt or one with a dynamic baseball pose.

Great set ! What is the release date ?
Any other idea for metal minis (even individual ones, but with similar small price) ?
thanks
-
Mega Miniatures have a good selection, the paintjobs are not that great but the miniatures themselves can't be beat for the price of 2.00 USD per figure.

Thanks, but I'd prefer to find minis in Europe to save shipping and possible custom fees ;)
I think that some common heroclix figures should be good enough, too.
-
I like the look of them.
Will like to see what they cost.
-
Otherwise you can go for Studio Miniatures and Hasslefree survivors. Quite a wide choice, not cheap but,... survivors are meant to be a little number, right? :)
-
If you'll excuse the pimping we presently have 16 survivors in our range, with more being sculpted. Though they are kitted out for cold weather, they're not all in big coats. :)

I can defintely recommend the Miniature Mojo figures; lovely scuplts at a good price.
For other cheap options:
- Black-cat bases has a variety of figures which might be useful
- EM-4 has the old grenadier Future Warriors line; some of which are suitable 'near-future' to be used..
- Copplestone Castings have a Future wars line too, with a similar theme to the above (Same sculptor, same premise...)
- TAG has some good near future military types for any Police/militia/army types...
- ERM has a couple of ranges which might have potential: Golgo Island, Gangwars (sculpts nopt as bad as they look, but they are BIG), Corperate wars or some such
- Cold Wars had a set of 4 survivors in their Dead will walk line which I seem to recall being reasonably priced...
-
thanks for all these ideas. ;)
Concerning the wargame factory plastic set, any release date has been announced ? I can't find any.
-
I couldn't find any date pinned down on their FB page, a "few weeks" was all they mentioned.
-
@lazydragon :
thanks especially for the ERM link, there is plenty of cheap (1£) metal figures, for both games I'm currently setting up :
larger than life (with james bond theme), with civilians, boilersuits guards, etc...
all things zombies
:o

Thanks for the heads-up regarding those WGF zombiehunters.

I think that some common heroclix figures should be good enough, too.
Heroclix have many figures in their various ranges that will work great for survivors. And if you get two the same, just a little yu can make a zombie one to match.
-
I don't need 30 male survivors (but if the price is right, I still would buy 'em), but it would be awsome if they had sprues of 15 male and 15 female!
-
I think the thing is the bits you get with them are brilliant.
I would throw together as many survivors as needed and then turn the rest into zombies. You could even make zombie versions of the survivors for when they get turned!

Exactly that. I will probably make half survivors and half as zombie versions of themselves as I intend using them for Zombicide.

did you see pictures of the sprues?
My concern was that the various bits were too much dedicated, so you will have basically 3-4 copies for each survivor. Ok, you can mod them, but that's not the main point, is it?

Me too, but for ATZ. I'll wait for the release, I hope it will be done soon.
In the mean time, I'll paint the plastic zombies (around 100) I ordered ;)

the WF ones? Ew.
-
I ordered one set of wargames factory vixen zombies (females), and 1 set of Studio Miniatures zombies (males) 8)

Ok, definitely a good choiche. My "Ew" was for the first set of zombies from WF.
They should probably resculpt them, since people ordering zombies are gonna buy from them those... slimes and realistically get quite disappointed.
-
I don't need 30 male survivors (but if the price is right, I still would buy 'em), but it would be awesome if they had sprues of 15 male and 15 female!
On the WGF forum they stated "Apocalypse Survivors: The Women" are currently in tooling. So I guess we should see examples of the women figures soonish.
-
Smart: you have to buy 60 models to mix up a bunch of a dozen of survivors. Still a great deal, though.
sorry for the double answer: any picture of the sprues of the male survivors at the moment?
-
Here are the sprues
-
i hate you. Now i want those.
I have to say, it is quite possible to assemble quite some disturbing miniatures there XD
-
lol sorry
-
A children with the Hartman Leutenant's face.... BRRR.
aaanyway. Another VERY INTERESTING possibility with basically 3 figures identical is to have the 3 stances: melee, primary, secondary: a basic 3-pose for left for dead style games!

That's a great idea. Will work well for my zombie games where the survivors will find different weapons along the way. Would be frivolous in metal and costly but for the price of these plastics it's easily possible.

something even better if you have only 3-4 survivors to mod: MAGNETS. A little long, but saves you from painting 3 times the same figure, and also gives you MUCH MORE variants ^^
-
I may try that out as a project, I'll have enough survivors in the box to practice with lol
-
Am I mistaken or is there no M1 Carbine on that sprue? I'm not a WF hater and plan to buy the survivor set but seriously - did they not read Max Brooks before development?
-
What about megaminis survivors and modern civilians ?
I'd like to order some figures in their shop before closing (especially the metal magic ones, so great classic fantasy minis), but in the mean time, why not ordering some figures for other games (ATZ and SuperSystem).
But some of the modern civilian figures on their website are described at 25mm, other 28mm...
I know that metal magic adventures are described as 25mm, but works pretty well with true 28mm minis. Is it the same with mega minis modern civilians ?
I received the Studio miniatures plastic zombies sets. They seems to be pretty accurate on 28mm scale. Will they work with megamini civilians ?
thank you for the help.
-
With the survivor set you could mix it with some of the bodies from the studio miniatures zeds to give you more variety.
-
You're talking about wargames factory survivors ? They are not available for now. My question is about megaminis civilians ;)
thanks
-
yes mixing the WGF Survivors with the plastic studio zombie bits you could make some more survivors. Personally I don't like the megamini's stuff some of the old alphaforge miniatures they have mixed in across the range are good though.
