Title: Irregular Star Marines for Fireteam Andromeda
Post by: Dr. The Viking on 24 March 2013, 05:29:39 PM
Hi there,

I've painted up some Irregular Star Marines in a winter scheme and made some custom terrain for them as well.

I'm going to use them for FIRETEAM ANDROMEDA

I hope you will go visit my blog and have a look.

I'm also in the process of making a downed spaceship:

Was the the starting point/ basic shape for the spaceship part of a toy gun before it crash-landed?

Those Irregular miniatures never cease to amaze me.  They look so bad as bare metal and so good once painted.  You did a bang up job with those.

Managed to do a bit more work on the ship. Still needs more snow flock-- just not sure how to apply it yet.

Oh. yeah and I managed the robot and so on as well.

LIttle or no idea where it came from. But I think most water pistols look ready to convert in to sci-fi fighters and ships.  lol

Innovative use of a water pistol!

What are you using for the snow?

Quite literally  8)

It is as with the case of the monkeys - sooner or later it had to happen.  ;)

Methamphetamine,... I mean Games Workshop snowflock (similar price pr gramme I think, but I'm no expert).

I mix this with glass powder (so do the meth heads I think! Or is that speed freaks? No similarities otherwise though) to give a sparkling vista to the snow (the reasons for adding it to other substances elude me).

The glass is from NOCH and I bought it 7 years ago, so it might not be available anymore. Maybe the methamphetine freaks have bought it all along with all the cold medicine.  lol

Crazy, crazy Viking  :D

How about a bit of 'scorched' snow around the downed ship or a bit more detritus?

cheers

I'm thinking you need to apply some snow to the upper surfaces of he crashed ship or as Jim says scorched/melted/refrozen snow around it. Have you tried Fireteam Andromeda yet?

Haven't tried it yet. But I'm not that picky. And if it fails I'll use Future War Commander or Quadrant 13.

I've painted a bit more also... slightly unrelated to this project but still 15mm.
