Title: Cattle & other animals
Post by: Deedles on 27 March 2013, 10:20:43 AM
Given the interest shown in my "herd" i thought i would post some proper close shots with figures so you can scale them.

These are 1/64th scale made by ERTL , hard plastic/rubber ready coloured available in packs of 20 cows 5 calves for around $10.00 from the US - search ebay or google.

So how about some more "animal" resources out there?

:-* That herd looks fantastic. Gonna have to track some of them down now. Are the hex bases for random direction on a D6? I too would be interested in other sources of animals. I'll have a look through my bookmarks as I'm sure I found some a while back.

Yes thats the reason - it allows a herd to take various shapes, bits split up etc , all controlled with a d6

Lovely stuff! When I looked at them on Ebay I found they were about £16 with packaging to the UK from the States.

Hmm, now I come to think of some stray dogs and cats, maybe a donkey or two...

PS: Where is the mounted cowboy from? One is the ponyexpress rider from Artizan I believe, but the other one?

Thanks, I may borrow that for mine as it seems an easier way than random direction dice which tends to cause arguments over the exact direction of the dice!

Yep, found some on ebay too from US, worth a shot I think.

I also have a mule - this one is from Irregular miniatures http://www.irregularminiatures.co.uk/ (http://www.irregularminiatures.co.uk/) who do a fair range of animals.

i added a blanket from green stuff, and a rope bridle from twisted copper wire strands

the Man with No Name is by ebob http://www.ebobminiatures.com/products/western.htm (http://www.ebobminiatures.com/products/western.htm)  a bit slender in comparison to some other figures - but you can tell him that not me..

Cheers for the link. Great job on The Man With No Name's poncho, I have that ebob miniature and the artizan one and it's that poncho that is stopping me from finishing them. You've nailed the patterning.

These are in 25 mm but the variety of available critters is mind bending:

I wish I could find a sight like this in 15 mm!  However, ACT FAST if you want these because if you wait until June 1st you are probably too late.  Apparently the owner has some sort of job change in the works and is selling out of the business.  I figure for critters like this the difference between 25 mm and 28 mm can't be all that important.

Those are nice cattle posted here - especially like the calf and its color difference from mom and her sisters.

Yes, but if you want the Mega minis, you'll need to act fast; they're closing down soon.

The mega minis stuff is okay, but its pretty expensive compared to Ertl. So I wouldn't buy cattle from them but they certainly have a nice variety of other animals to fill things out.
