I've been sharing this on Facebook and thought it only fair to pop it up on here as I know how much we all enjoy a bit of modelling and this guy's project is stunning, plus he does a step by step. It's a long old thread so here's some photo highlights:

So many little details. The yellow container in the flatbed really tickled me. You can even see the liquid inside it. What a talented person.

I guess the modelling-only crowd has it easier because people are *not* supposed to get their grubby paws on it, but this is really excellent. The storage rack is outrageously well done.

wow.....

Until the last pic, I thought I was looking at places I've been killed in, while playing COD or Battlefield... :?
It really is impressive though, thanks for sharing that Phil! :)

When we play at work sometimes it's all I can do not to go down stairs and punch the dozy sod who keeps getting himself killed all the time. I mean honestly, a 4-26 kill to death ratio is not a laughing matter lol
cheers

I'm always bemused that 'dying' is not necessarily a bad thing in the world of games... it's not the handicap you'd typically expect in a war apparently.
::)

2nd Cavalry Regiment of the Australian Army. I did 6 months with them after training as a driver/sig. While I was training, our newly elected government pulled the pin on National Service and Australia's involvement in the Vietnam War. Turned a top line unit into a bored groups of guys, half of whom just wanted to get out of the army and go back to their civvie jobs.
Excellent. Which unit is that?

Excellent stuff - so what did you get to drive?

M113A1s & M577s. Managed to blow up the engine one day when the engine seals broke and I got covered in oil. Two of our trainees sank carriers when doing the water training (both had the same crew commander IIRC but he did have MM & bar, he was loopy).

I spent 2 hours last night I should have better spent sleeping, reading through his entire blog for this beauty. That is some attention to detail alright... :-*
-
That's crazy good. Thanks for the link.

Lovely stuff, a couple of vehicles I've never seen sadly, they're a bit rare over here. I live in hope of one day making it to the Yad La-Shiryon museum in Israel which has a fine collection of ex-Israeli vehicles which are from all over, plus a pile of captured stuff, including a Russian trench digger.
Good to see your old unit is still fighting the good fight though, eh?

If you come to Oz, there is a great collection at Puckapunyal and the Australian War memorial collection is ever growing in what is shown to the public (I believe a lot of stuff is being restored or stored at their storage facility on the outskirts of Canberra due to lack of display space). Some years ago, I had the luck to see the collection at Nungarin in Western Australia where the Australian 1st Armoured Division had been based for training as prep for the South West Pacific but they were only committed in penny packets, max Regiment/Battalion size, I think. Rumour was that a boggy creek not far from the museum had hundreds of Brens that had been dumped post war.

Well technically speaking the withdrawal of Australian troops was put into effect by the previous government of 'Silly Billy' McMahon, he of the enormous ears and racy wife. Everyone knew the withdrawal date well prior to the election of The Whitlam government. 'Tis true that Gough ended national service but that fact always seems to be conflated with the decision to withdraw from Vietnam which he didn't. With the drawing down of Vietnam, there was no point maintaining the nashos.
The wonderful George Logan, formerly AATV, used to remark that prior to national service, Australia had a great little British army, fucked up only by a few Australians. Of course he said it (and may well still do so) with a distinct Scots burr. :)
