My Website has a new section:
http://www.adpublishing.de/html/shantytown.html (http://www.adpublishing.de/html/shantytown.html)
The Shantytown section is dedicated to District 9 gaming. Most minis are from the GZG range.
In fact right now everything is from there Crusty Aliens, their wheeled 15mm range (Phalanx 6-wheel hi-mobility Heavy APC) and Shack Set. More soon!
A suitable army lists and example army will be featured in my upcoming Victory Decision: Planetfall ruleset.

Nice Agis.
Something else on the list that never got past gzg purchases of crusties and exo suits.
The artwork of district 9 is a fantastic resource book and well worth getting. There's some nice mnu type troops available too through khurasan minis, their modern spec ops would work very well indeed.
Looking forward to more.

Ah Commander great minds think alike:
Got the art book, got the Khurasan minis etc etc. ;) ;)
I am however still unsure which moderns to use for them. We'll see.
-
Great work, as usual. Loved D9. It was head and shoulders above 'Avatar', IMO.
Thank God no one makes Crusties in 28mm. Otherwise I'd be starting another project.
-
Very nice. I have not seen the movie, but your painting and building is really good!
-
Looking great! You're really inspiring me to go back and re-paint my GZG shacks...
-
Looks neat, though I prefer the MNU to be in proper Caspirs or Ratels or something. Short of the aliens, D9 wasn't really a sci-fi flick. At least from the human side. I'd prefer to see more realistic human forces...leave the cool robots to the crusties. Nice paintjobs.

Agreed, I got a bunch of Peter Pig Modern USMC, for a false started "Battlefield Los Angeles" project. They also have there full AK47 republic African range. Might be a place to start for current forces. And don't forget QRF Models to get all the vehicles.

I will take a slightly differnt aproach. I do NOT want to recreat D9, I am more thinking of a similar conflict on a Human Colony world with a higher tech level.
So the GZG vehicles will be used together with some Ainisty. Crusties are already established, they will get some walkers and the Power Armour troops.

Makes sense... since with access to the higher tech level goodies depicted in "District 9", humans would not remain a "low tech civilization" for very long!
As that technology boosted our abilities as a species faster than we advanced our own societal characteristics, the likelihood of stellar travel would go way up... but the likelihood of maintaining old injustices on new planets would be very high. "Crusties" accompany humans (back) to space, but often end up ghettoized just as they were on Earth.

Yup. :D

@Agis, would you mind talking about how you painted the shacks? I really like them! :)
-
Cracking project Agis :-*

Thanks guys!!!

Not much to it. Base colours and then a lot of MIG pigments.
Sealing with pigment fixer, after that some edge highlights and painting the windows.

Love it. Great movie too. Nothing beats an Afrikaans accent, eh.

I am even tempted to give the setting a try in 28mm, the following mini is from Mark Copplestone’s Future War range. Painted in the MNU colours.

I aimed for this look:

So who is making suitable 28mm Shrimps?
-
I'd say that aim hit bull's eye.
Cool pattern and excellent PJ of it. 8)

Not bad at all! sci fi in 15mm has a wide variety of options, and that's great! :)
-

Well if you recall back on page 1 the Commander V eluded to the fact he knew just the info you are asking about. But he wasn't being friendly at the time to share the info. Maybe you go some ways of making him talk. :-)

-
Don't I know it!!!! :? Still waiting on the sculptor to finish masters and we'll be ready to fooking rock and roll! :D
-
Love them! Very cool! The Hasslfree White Ops would make great mnu as well!
-
oooh! Very nice MNU, Agis. Very. Nice. Shame I can't think of any 28mm Prawns.
Achilles - those HF White Ops would be perfect. *repeat to self* "Idon'tneedanotherproject-Idon'tneedanotherproject-Idon'tneedanother--"

Great looking miniatures: The Crusties and the 28mm MNU too ! That´s what I call inspiring.
I´ve also ordered those little shrimps 2 weeks ago and now can´t wait to lay brush on them... ;D
