Patrik brought X-wing down to the club this weekend and I got to play 4 games. This was only my second time playing the game as I had tested it briefly with Andreas a couple of weeks ago, but this time around we played for a couple of hours which meant I started to grasp the rules and gameplay towards the end.
Patrik had bought a bunch of the new ships, such as the Tie Interceptors and A-wings, and as I really like the A-wing I included at least 1 in every one of the four games that we played. They are really cool but so fast that they made me too eager to get in close and personal with the Imperial ships without thinking (and got me killed a lot).
Still, it seemed that I played a lot better when I was able to channel all my focus into the single surviving A-wing I had left in our third game, and was able to successfully dogfight 3 Tie Interceptors, some of them damaged, and destroy 2. I would have destroyed the 3rd as well but the dice failed me. The situation was as such that I had 2 shields and 2 hull points left (completely untouched), the enemy Tie Interceptor fired and scored 4 hits, I had only to save one single damage roll to survive and fire back to destroy the enemy. Of course I failed all my save rolls....
You can see a bunch more pictures from those 4 games over at my blog:

Why have I not purchased this game yet? Thanks for sharing.

I love this game! Here's a pic of some boards I made.

I love Wings of Glory etc, so I know I'd enjoy this. My only (slight) qualm is that I don't care for the look of the bases. They look...like an afterthought. "Hey we made awesome models...oh...print up some cheap, colourful base cards for them...".
I know that's obnoxiously picky but it's the first thing I notice in each picture I've seen of this game! lol
(secretly hopes one of my buddies will start this so I can have an excuse to buy a handful of models)

A friend has all the ships and recently I got to see the Millenium Falcon in action as well as the slave 1.
The Slave 1 can fire front and aft but the Falcon, oh boy, 360° primary weapon ;D

I liked the game, quite simple game play and the minis are quite nice too - it's just the price that puts me off. In order to have a decent game (and the starter box isn't a decent game I quickly found out) you have to put in quite an investment.
-
Yeah the investment is quite steep, though to be honest it is good value for money, beside the fully painted ships (and they look good) you get tokens and a bunch of cards with each ship blister.
People usually buy 2 core sets to get double sets of movement templates, dice and a decent amount of ships, then add single ship blisters from there .

is there anyone stocking this at Salute at a decent price, if not, does someone know of an UK or European stockist doing a good price on this? Am going to buy it to play it with my dad :)

To be honest all the counters seemed overly excessive in a typical Fantasy Flight Games sort of way - counters for every single thing whereas must gamers would happily just use a dice or some other such thing, so I find it a difficult excuse for pushing up the price - they are after all just pieces of cardboard.
-
....they are after all just pieces of cardboard.
Don't go down that route man! After all, our little tin soldiers are, after all, just lumps of metal or plastic! ;)

However, the costs of graphic design and especially printing card are small compared to the costs of modelmaking, moulding and casting.

Pretty certain that Roland from Stafford Games will have a good stock of this at Salute with him.... no idea what he'll do price-wise, but he is cheaper than RRP normally.
