Title: Shopping list for Salute
Post by: Chilledenuff on 04 April 2013, 08:05:10 AM
I just don't have one this year :o. I've preordered very few bits so far, but I just don't know what else I want/need.   Has anyone else got this problem?

Can I blame Kickstarter?  Fewer manufacturers seem to have anything shiny/new coming out.  After all like most war gamers, shiny and new normally means I'll buy the rule book at least

Westwind and TAG Kickstarters have kind of blown my available funds.........it'll be more of a 'want now, can't have' show this year  :'(

Um... plane ticket? :)

lol

...hotel room,
bus ticket,
entry fees,
meals,
etc.

I fear I won't have much left to buy figures then... ;)

Lots I want just need to see how the funds go. In order of priority:
Crooked Dice not Blakes 7 figures
Fenris Cthulhu and Griffin House
A few Artizan WWII figs
Red Star French Indochina (added to list last night, if they are available)
And I am sure to be distracted by other shiny things.

My list keeps growing then shrinking as I try to cut out "unnecessary" items but five minutes later I've added something else
Decided that I'm only going to preorder the bits I want from Crooked Dice and then the other things on my list I'll pick up if nothing else shiny takes my money first  ;)

deciding to do Game of Thrones in 15mm would be fine,
but you've just got to have 7 armies (and the rest)

First stop Wargamer for By Fire & Sword, and of course I "have" to buy some figures too (actually, they're my one and only preorder, and already paid for sneakily out of paypal rather than Salute funds   :D )

Being very suggestible when it comes to new projects and having been listening to 'God's Revolution' on BBC R4Extra I'm thinking of starting ECW again, this time in 15mm, in which case a visit to Peter Pig will be in order.

Other than that, no list, but that's ok - can just browse and pick up what takes my fancy, until I realise I've spent too much  ;)

Re- wrote my Salute list several times.
Finally made some pre-orders with my favourite traders Gripping Beast/Musketeer, Redoubt, Scheltrum, Westwind.
Keeping the rest for impulse buys.

Perrys 8th Army - if they're ready...
Maybe that new pack of Perry Italian heavy infantry with poleaxes...
Flowering tufts.
Some more hedgerows.
Hmmm... Can't think of anything else right now. Very abstemious, eh?

I'm sure some other goodies will take my fancy on the day though... They usually do  :)

Tiny bit of Eureka, some Em4, one Hasslefree and then a free roam.

Fenris Cthulhu and Griffin House

I've seen this being built, it's stunning, I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't becomes one of the big "Did you see?"'s of the show.

Having seen how many pieces its made of, I'm gonna need to have a good look at one before attempting to build my own!

I am sure that I can escape, at least for a little while.
Rumour has it there are a few games that I will have to drool over, so it will just have to be done.
Anyway, if he is going to be off gallivanting with Commander V he will be setting a bad example, wont he?

For me its Critical Mass Games stuff you know 15mm sci-fi ;D

Protolene Khanates and some mercenary bits

Otherwise it will be some GZG stuff, the only bad and good thing is that Khuarasian are not there, as that would be heap of postage saved but my wallet would be screaming for mercy  :o

Happy Salute everyone

for me nothing. I have some figures to collect from a mate, but I cannot think of much I want at the moment - or more accurately I cannot afford everything I want therefore I will pretend I have enough unpainted lead already  o_o

ah who am I kidding, as long as I have some amount of money on me I will end up buying something shiny I'll never use  lol

After starting this thread all those days ago I've managed a small number of preorders to either get a freind to pick up or see if I can escape from the Crooked dice tables long enough to collect:

Ichabod (from Fenris)
Bits from Crooked Dice (lots of)
Armies of the Soviet Union from Warlord Games
*edit* and some bits from Hasslefree
Still musing on other bits too  :D My wallet is starting to moan at me

Okay, I too will cave for Fenris' Ichabod and nodding donkey.
I'll also pick up Scurv's future sports team @ Eureka.
And maybe some impulse purchases  ::)
