Title: ACW Native Americans.
Post by: Rivera on 04 April 2013, 08:26:22 AM
I've just received some Conquest Miniatures Woodland Indians (French Indian War 1754-1763) and was wondering if they could be adapted to an ACW setting?

The research that I've done so far suggests that quite a few tribes were involved on both sides during the conflict I and was hoping that someone might have some experience with these excellent miniatures.

Osprey do a couple of useful books on the subject:

I would advise against using FIW Indians for ACW (yes, even mine lol ) as although Delawares, Choctaws, Cherokees etc were involved, their appearance had changed radically in the century between  ;)

Foundry did some figures for this subject, sculpted by Mike Owen, they may still have them, the last I saw they were in the Old West range.

I hope that's helpful  :)

Thanks for the info Major, luckily my local library can order the Osprey books for me.

I was hoping that the traditional dress might have held over from previous years but .....

I feel a FIW project coming on :D

Thanks for the link Baron, the Pea Ridge battle does sound intrigueing so I'll have to check it out on the interweb.

Strangely enough I've just received some Perry ACW Cavalry and was wondering what to do with them, I might now have a cunning plan ;)
