A LAF badge is a good idea - have you settled on a design? :)
-
I must protest the poll ;)
I cannot tick "Yes" and "GW is the devil" at the same time
-
Yes I should have said... 50p. No forrin'. :P

Nice! Alongside the badge there should be a scorecard with everyone's avatar listed you have to tick off. Not allowed out of the building until all accounted for :D
-
I'd like to have one as well. Where do we pick them up?
-
Yes please.
-
Sure, sign me up! I'll be with Jim and Nick.
-
Yes please!
-
Questions, questions, questions... typically find the man with the big moustache wearing a LAF badge, that's me. Although I could drop some off at a stand, let me work something out.
Britocentric? Forrin' starts at the Wantsum my friend - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_Wantsum (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_Wantsum)
-
Phil I suppose paying in advance would be a nightmare for you?
I really would hate to miss them though.....
-

I'm sure there could be some kind of badge sale after the con (eh Phil), but I MUST HAVE THE LIMITED EDITION FIRST ED TROLLCAST LE one!
-
Great idea about the badges...I’ll take one as well please
I will wear it with pride on my shedwars hoody !! It was an Xmas present from my 11 year old son ;)

lol lol lol
I've got a 'tache but if any of you wierdos approach me asking about 'stinking badges' I'll call the cops. :D
-
This might be enough to make me shave my tash off, been married 30yrs and the misses has never seen me in the nude so to speak
-
Have i missed it, or has the actual badge design yet to be seen...
even so, I'll also have one!
-
Sign me up sir! Would be rocking to spot other LAFers there!
-
Okay, as much as I like having folk approach me and my moustache I've arranged for these to also be available from the Fenris Games stall (TB02). This will also give you a chance to look at our humble Slug Industries range which Ian has agreed to carry.
-
Good idea....could do with a Frothers one as well.............can't imagine what the design for that would be though :o
I'm sure you can :o

I would like one too please

Phil
Do we tell you where we will pick up from (I'm one of jimbibbly's bitches for the day) and more to the point how do we pay you?
-
Phil
Do we tell you where we will pick up from (I'm one of jimbibbly's bitches for the day) and more to the point how do we pay you?
You can either find me, or go to the Fenris Games stall (TB02) which if you're where Jim was last year is to your right in the corner, cash only 50p on the day. I've really only started this thread to guage numbers needed not going to paypal or anything like that.
For those not attending get in touch with LAF HQ once they've got theirs in the week following Salute. I'll be donating some which I imagine in turn could be used for other supporters, but that's not for me to say.
-
I'm further up this year, they keep moving it around ::)
Just to check, are they only going to be available from Fenris?
cheers
James

Or from Phil, if you can find him. He's the anti-ninja.
-

When I get around to your stall I'll sort you out, okay?
I'm rather hoping that having them in my pocket means I meet more LAFers than usual.
-
Don't make a little prick of yourself though Phil, (I mean with all those badges and pins in your pocket). ;)
-
Yes please for a badge.
-
I'll take one too
-
I'm all for badges so count me in!
-
Yes!!
I'm in!
Marco

Impressed by the number of LAFers who want a badge - given the 000's attending it will be good advertising for the boards...
I will wear my badge with pride....
Can I buy a spare for my son - I wont let him post yet but he does love to read all stuff on the boards
-
Can I buy a spare for my son - I wont let him post yet but he does love to read all stuff on the boards
Will he be with you?
-
Yup.....
He goes under the moniker of Shedson :D
-
Well find me and I'll gladly give Shedson one for free, have to encourage the young 'uns.
-
Don't make a little prick of yourself though Phil, (I mean with all those badges and pins in your pocket). ;)
;) I'll help you put yours on if you want...
-
Aha, go on then, put me down for one. I'm sure I could scrounge up some pocket money to pay for it. lol
-
:D
I had someone pm me about a badge, expressing sorrow about leaving it to the last moment, they could understand if it was too late, and how they hoped to see me tomorrow (i.e: today). I had to point out they'd got their dates mixed and how "Cake International" might niot be good enough.
This thread saves wasteful trips!
-
Mmmm, cake. Next year can salute be on the same day as cake international please? Is rather wander about the foyer with cake types then people signing up for the marathon
-

I'm happy to name and shame myself... I've had it written in my diary for something like six months, not sure if I'd be around for it. So glad I checked my message last night rather than on the way to the train station! ::)
That said, cake decorations can make useful scenery sometimes! lol
-
Badge here too pleez?
I think I'll have to make a beeline to the Fenris table ASAP to drop off a gobbo, anyway.
-
I'm happy to name and shame myself...
Ahhhh, see I thought it was funny but not the need to name you. lol
Someone on hearing this did suggest I should have gone along with it... some people eh?
-
One for me as well please.
-
And one for me too please.

Phil brought the badges over to me for show stock yesterday, and very distinguished they are, too 8)

Sounds like a plan, NAM is much better than IWM imho, so I think you're onto a winner.
And as Zizi says yes they're on the Fenris stand, although I'm hoping folk will accost me for them just so I can say "Allo". There will be some in Bibblies stand as well once I've found it.
-
Phil,
thank you for the suggestion!
I visited both, as well as a lot of other military museums around southern England, and I always enjoied the visit.
My plan was to visit the Pompei exibition at British Museum, but unfortunately it's all booked till early June. :-[
I'll gladly accost you; but I'm really not - yet! - used to accost mustaches-bearers! lol
Any other way to recognize you?
(please please please, fellow LAFers, don't begin with unpolite suggestions! :D)
I'll wear a turquoise t-shirt with golden hoplite helm and the acronimous ARES (Historical Events Reenactment Association, in Italian Associazione per la Rievocazione di Eventi Storici))
Anyway, see you the day after tomorrow!
Marco

I'm tempted to wear a big t-shirt over my shirt with all the badges on just to make it easier for folk to spot me...
Here's a photo... I'm the one with the real moustache...

Damn your eyes, Flashman never went to seed. :)

Perhaps, it's not quite satorial enough for me... maybe get Stinky to be badge wallah.

+1
-
Phil, having seen the photo is there anything at all that might distinguish you from the rest of the crowd? I'm just not sure the moustache, top hat, coat and trews will be enough? :D Having said that I've never been to Salute so everyone might look like that!
-
There will be some in Bibblies stand as well once I've found it.
Top left away from the door, almost as far away as possible, but not quite :D TA24
Do you have 'tache wax ???
cheers
James
-
Put me down for one to please. I'll pick it up from the Bibblestand, as I'll be on his Martian demo game with Malamute & Dr De'Ath

I almost misread that as the Bible-stand. A very different salute! lol

:o In what universe do you need a 4320-pixel-tall 4.5MB jpeg?
(I like the look on the face of that guy to the left. lol I imagine I'll have that expression a few times on Saturday.)
-

Yes.
:o In what universe do you need a 4320-pixel-tall 4.5MB jpeg?
In the i've-got-a-camera-full-of-photos-and-I'm-not-downsizing-them one. Also many folk want a copy and that's print quality for 'em.
Capt Stinky has been volunteered, he'll have a dozen of them on his t-shirt and be with me all day. It couldn't be easier.
-
In the i've-got-a-camera-full-of-photos-and-I'm-not-downsizing-them one.
Ah, me mum goes there sometimes. ;)
(Just mucking around. ;) IRL appreciative of all the organising and manufacturing you've got going on. Wouldn't hack it meself.)
-
Wow, I'm really bad at identifying fake moustaches! You're the one on the right; doh! My phone cut out most of the right hand side of the photo (which often happens on the LAF) so I've only just seen you on my tablet! I thought you were Isambard Kingdom Brunel's slightly sinister little brother! Not at all what I expected; the actual photo is though, with a touch of Charley Boorman if you don't mind me saying!
-

Yeh no worries, last year when I surfaced on the Sunday I just wanted them on the blog asap. I know of no way to do this as a batch...

Thanks for the first bit at least... ;). If you want a Charley Boorman lookalike my mate Wobbly Steve is much closer, even has a motorbike.
-
That's the funny thing, I couldn't even see you when I originally looked on my phone, just your arm! The topper attired gent didn't look like the sort of person who could have sculpted such wonderful luggage! The sort of person who stuffed roadkill with pasta, maybe?
I do like Charley Boorman. I've seen him live and he seems like a nice bloke. His agent called my wife a couple of years ago about doing a talk and we rather cheekily invited him over for dinner. He got a new series though so buggered off to film that. I don't imagine he would actually have come over. They could have sent over Wobbly Steve instead and we might never have been any the wiser lol
-
Not going to be at Salute (it's a long swim for me), but I'd love to see the pics of the badge...
-
Not going to be at Salute (it's a long swim for me), but I'd love to see the pics of the badge...
that shouldn't prove to be difficult. I'm guessing once pics of salute hit the web, you'll just have to look for men walking around with proud chest because they're wearing it :D
-
Can I be honest? Just a little dissapointed that after a few hundred miles drive - and stating on this forum that I really wanted a badge- ( to wear it proudly as zizi so elonquently puts it) the only thing I got was a rather curt reply ' they're all sold out' by which time I was already looking at a turned back.
Perhaps next year we could order them in advance -I'd be most happy to pay some extra for the postage- or prepare a list with the manes of those that have already 'subscribed'.
-
Can I be honest?
Honesty is of great value, so most welcome. Although in striving for honesty you have made it sound like you approached me when everyone who did got a badge. Fenris had these on their stall purely as a favour to make getting them easier and they were very busy for most of the day so they didn't anything wrong tbh.
It was difficult to get the right number in the right places at the right time, despite having made double the number that were requested here, and selling all all of them. I didn't meet half as many folk as I'd have liked to, but it was a joy to meet those who I did.
If anyone wants one pm me and we can sort something out, for mainland Europeans I shall be making a batch for LAF HQ as a donation to the server fund so you could wait for that - if not just pm me.
cheers,
-
Despite having ordered a badge my back prevented me making it too Salute but I'd still like to buy one at some point, Phil. :)
-

No such thing implied Phil. In fact I applaud your effort to do so, and as I said I was only slightly dissapointed. Then again it was only about a hour or so into the show when I approached the Fenris shop, so those badges must have been very popular. Really couldn't get there any sooner as I had to help set up our game before I could wander of.
Moreover I'm almost certain I didn't approach your good self since the name on the back of the rather hurried staffmember said 'Liam' if I recall correctly and not 'Phil' :)
Not having a badge didn't ruin my Salute show in any way, but I did feel some pangs of regret every time I saw someone sporting one. It could have been someone I had corresponded with via this forum for years, and i would have been nice to meet them in person.

I'm sure it was and you obviously made every possible effort. And I very much would have liked to meet you too, but we'll have to postpone that till next Salute I guess.

The thread title mentions a photo being added, but I don't see on here or at the beginning of the thread? ???
On one of his posts on page 6 Phil added a link to a photo of himself so that we could recognise him at Salute.
-
Quite right, it's an uncompressed photo so it's a link rather than an image, like this: http://6milphil.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/dsc02740.jpg (http://6milphil.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/dsc02740.jpg) which might be why you missed it.
Good to meet you Mason, I like your style - a definite hint of Yardbirds/Rolling Stones to you. What a hipster. ;)

I missed out on my badge too this year.... maybe next year I'll manage to get away from demoing and get to wander round before 2 pm ::)

Nope, but I will and still have a handful of LAF badges left....

Cool, cheers. I'll be there at 8 apparently so I'll get one before the show starts :)
Thanks for the offer Phil.

If you've got a couple Ian I'll drop over to pick one up too. :D
