Hello,
I`m in the process of building an Lannister and an Stark Army for Impetus on the basis of the various Fireforge miniatures (I know the original story is more in a WotR-like setting, but I like the style of earlier medievil times better).
Now I´m not as good a painter, that I can paint all the heraldry on the Shields/ flags myself. For the house of Lannister and the hous Clegane I found some decals, but no decent Flags so far (something to print on a color-printer would do). And I sure need more stuff for the shields/ flags of other Lords in the armies.
So my question is: Do you know a site, where I can find Westeros-compatible decals or at least good motivs for the flags?

Can't help you with the flags and shield designs but I too like the earlier Medieval setting. Was more how I imagined it pre-TV series!
-
@wilikins: yes, I like the series, but it really does not look like the Westeros I imagined reading the books.
-
Despite all the mentions of plate armour in my mind I was picturing Normans.
Don't let the TV people boss you around!
Maybe you could get creative with some of the heraldy on this site.
All of the houses, both big and small, are compiled here.

Especially not a fan of the TV version of King's Landing. Drop "Mr. J" a PM on here regarding Stark shield transfers. I'm sure he bought some wolf heads from someone, he can probably help you out with that.

@Hildred Castaigne: thanks for the link. Good inspiration there, but unfortuanately nothing thats easy to get on the shield and banners of my armies.

For me there seems to be s tremendous mix of armours etc. The only realistic armours in the programme seem to be that of the Starks, which reminds me very much of the Gallowglass (from Irish: gallóglaigh). The rest all seem very fanciful.
Of course, that does not mean that I'm not a fan of the TV series which i think is a real breath of fresh air in the fantasy genre.
An earlier Medieval setting sounds great and I hope to see this project progress.
BTW, GW used to do some heater type shields with animal/fantasy animal/dragon emblems on them. They may be worth seeking out. I've got a few lying around that I might be willing to trade/sell. If you're interested PM me your e-mail address and I'll take some snaps and send them to you(?).
Darrell.

I've heard a few murmurs round the net that GRRM is not at all fond of the direction they took with the TV show's costumery. I had that in mind when I had a flick through the book Inside HBO's Game Of Thrones a couple of weeks ago. At the back there's a section of 'final thoughts' from people involved in the whole thing. There's a photo of Martin right there in the middle of it, but strangely no comment by him. :D

That is probably true. ::)

As long as he uses the money solely on preventative medicine I don't mind. I will be sorely pissed if he dies before he gets the series finished!

and how did you tranfer the designs to the shields? did you print your own decals?

Have a look at the Dilettante Gamer's Blog, he is having banners and shield transfers made up by a friend for the Starks, Lannisters and Greyjoy. They are very good and if enough people ask him, there is a chance that he will make them available.
For anyone interested in modelling/gaming A Song of Fire and Ice then the Dilettante's blog is worth the read.

Thanks for the shout out moonshadow. And yes, I'm open to some hobby-related bartering to spread the wealth for those with a shared interest.
Finalizing shield/surcote/barding transfers at the moment. (Still have had precious little hobby time with work and family demands lately.)
