I'm looking at painting a small force for ECW/TYW and I was wondering if anyone had used the Saga rules for this.
I've seen some weird and wonderful uses elsewhere so I thought I'd see if anyone here had done it?
If anyone could point me in the right direction of other rules that might be useful that would also be appreciated. The simpler the better and I'd love to not have to paint massive armies too.
Thanks.

Muskets & tomahawks ? About the same size of games, just med to do some rules for the pikes.
Best regards Michael

Have you looked at 'Spanish Fury' by the Perfect Captain? There are a variety of rules covering all sorts of battles. Spanish Fury - Actions is aimed at smaller 'actions' during the period in question and doesn't require huge numbers of troops. They even have the 'very civille actions' bolt on for English civil war actions. Oh yeah, and they're free!

Saga wasn't really designed for firearms, although you wouldn't be the first to try and do it. Have you looked at Muskets and Tomahawks? Same author and an excellent set of rules for Black Powder firearms.

There is also Irregular wars and this lot have used the legends of the high seas / lord if the rings rules to do Tudor era warfare http://www.spiritofthegame.org.uk/1588andallthat/about.htm

If you are running 3-20 models per side, then you should check out Brink of Battle. Period 2 - Early Modern covers all Pike & Shotte and yields the right 'feel'.
