Title: Pulp figures in the Mega Miniatures line
Post by: P_Clapham on 12 April 2013, 10:41:32 PM
With Mega Miniatures shutting down soon I decided to take a look at what they had while I still could.  To my surprise they have a decent amount of figures usable for pulp games, particularly Chaos in Cairo.

The Fantasy Arabian section has some great minis, for both the Sons of Set and the Swords of Ra.  There are some nice civilian figures as well.

In the Fantasy Monsters section I found a decent looking mummy, I bought a few of them intending to use them as Eternal slaves.  There are some other monsters in that section that could work in a pulp setting.

The figures are on the smaller side.  They match up well with my Call of Cthulhu investigators, and Space 1899 minis.  Once I get the figures in hand I will do some comparison pictures with larger pulp miniatures.

I bought the Arabian Harem painted on Ebay some time back and can recommend it.

The figures arrived the other day, and I was very impressed by them.  The paint jobs on the Mega Miniatures site do not do them justice.

I read your original post and the mention that they are smallish put me off.

Now that you have them in hand, just how 'small' are they?

Any photos the bear metal figures?

And size comparison with other figures?

I'll see to some comparison pictures in a few days when I get back from vacation.

They should scale up well with the historical foundry, and Call of Cthulhu miniatures I have.  I'd say they are close to being true 25mm figures.

You're not kidding!

They're actually pretty decent sculpts, and the casting is brilliant. Very little flash and crap. I just ordered 100$ worth of their Scavengers stuff, as well as some robots, and I'm absolutely jazzed at the value proposition. $2.50 for a good quality metal miniature? Heck yeah.

Some weeks ago a I placed an order on Megaminis, the content I would say was quite similar at the order of Mr Clapham, some arabians for my pulp games, and a bunch of dungeon furniture and props.
Today I got the order, quite fast and nicely casted.
I would say they are real 28mm (to head), they look a bit small next to my other pulp minis (Artizan for instance), but stand really well next to old citadels.
I agree they dont deserve the paint on their site, and the ratio product/value is excellent.
I will order from them again, i dont want to increase my lead pile, but i'm weak :-(
