On an Ice Planet somewhere in the Ursa Major galaxy a war is brewing.
The rebels have been fighting hard against the evil Empire that wants to come and steal their natural resources.
Luckily for the rebels a local tribe of Yewoks and Yeties have come to their help.
In a distant future far from the planet Earth House Alterdos and House Harkonit are waging a terrible war for spunge on Planet Ridge. House Harkonit have officially ceased all operations and surrendered the capital Champignac to House Alterdos.
The cause of conflict is a weird substance excreted by enormeous ice worms called 'the spunge' also known as mushrooms in the more primitive parts of the galaxy. This substance is a powerful aphrodisiac (major importance!) and also fuels intergalactic travel (minor importance).
Local Yeties and Yewoks are causing trouble, resisting the Houses and dedicating themselves to their weird Religion of The Great Thaw. They've been dubbed 'the premen' because of they primitive look.
The spunge must flow.

My 15mm Not Star Wars Ice Planet project is still going strong. In 15mm I actually managed to finish stuff, but OK, I'm not that good at painting in this scale... yet! lol

I actually have had the same idea tough never started on it. The idea got rolling when I started thinking if I could sculpt some alternative pieces for the GZG spider bots to turn them into not droidekas.
I really love what your doing with this, you are capturing the vibe of the movies far more then the exact shape and its all the better for it.

Thanks for the feedback.
The inspiration is 'what an 80'es star wars knock off film would look like'
So it's familiar looking pieces but arranged differently.
lol

It reminds me a lot of Ralph McQuarries concept art before the film.

I'm glad to see the CAV figure finding employment.

Bang on!
I knew it was making me think of something and that was it.
It was beginiing to annoy me a little, not being able to think of it.
Thanks, Oldben1!

The troopers were too busy chasing of the pestilent Yewoks to notice the lurker they'd brought with them...

missed that Topic before ::) Great Idea, great Figs and Painting :-*

Awesome use of materials. I think you need more hoses!

So I return!
I'm going to dare an actual game tonight. But in order to do so I need some terrain.
Thus I have constructed these pieces today. They're a bit quick and dirty but will serve.

Furnaces
The images are not that great as they're taken with natural light and lamps... so hard to find a good white balance.
Also I'm going to mix some 'Dune II' into the ice setting. That's why I've based some of it on rock. In Dune II rocky outcrops were the only safe zones from worm attacks. In analogy I will be getting some ice worms to use.
I am thinking of an even further integration by getting some harvesters and some spice. lol

Chopped up gardening things. I think they're meant to go under plastic flower pots.

A good game all things considered. A brief confusion of cover rules at a point where it was make or break was a bit annoying, but reading the rules a bit more fully for the next game will solve this.
House Harkonit managed a narrow victory but mainly due to blind luck and strange deployment.
We played a scenario from the rules book, but next time we will make a scenario of our own. We need more narrative and less armylist 1-on-1.
-
Brilliant!
8) 8)
Your games and mad ideas always make me smile.
:D
-
Nice work 8)
-
Great work, the story makes it awesome!
The terrain is supercool as well. Simple but with the right paint scheme, brilliant.
You need some more of those taun taun birds running around.
-
Next game we will have read the rules AND possible even remembered some of them. Especially the command point bit that we totally ignored, could have made quite a difference on activation rolls and the like I think.
And made up some unit cards for easy acces to special rules and the like.
It was a fine game - even if you rules lawyered yourself into a victory ;D ;)

Haha! Now I have to post the image and ask Agis! lol
But yeah, we left out CP's to ease our way into the game. I will read the rules... and even print a new copy and glue a back on it.
-
Great looking game and how did you do that image with the falling snow? I've looked at a few apps and none produce anything as nice as yours! 8)
-
Cool Image, Doc Longaxe. Very cool...
-
With most of those structures lacking any doors and looking like the top parts of chimneys and such I think we can all assume there is a epic sprawling base hidden under that ice and snow.

Yeah! Let's hope he builds it! 8) :)

I love a nice looking snow game - it's something different. And yours is very nice.

Nice. Can't wait to see the worms.
