Greetings
I love the idea of the anglo-Egyptian command. Background and bases are fitting.
And I just plain love the banner from the command post.
Is that a copy from some book and then weathered? How?
Great entries
Good job and good luck

That banner is great! I like the clean painting and bright colours of the miniatures as well. Well done. The first entry is nice as well. Good job, guys!

Very nice cavalry figures 42, well done! The banner does look great but it also looks hand painted, I would also like to know more :) I also really like the building :)
-
The banner with its gold is awesome. Takes it for me.

I hate to say it, but I thing backgrounds are going to swing votes. What range are the horsemen from?

Erm .. I'm not guilty.
This time
I think
But thank you for pointing out :)

I think they're from the Perry Sudan War range.
Very nice painting Pete. Simple, but clean and effective. The style suits those figures very well :)

Perry Sudan indeed. Thanks!
As usual my setup, lighting and camera competence are all sorely tested. However I've borrowed a better camera than usual for the LPL, so we shall see if this progresses at all!
Background or no, my opponents' entry is far nicer than mine. Vote for him! lol

Wow...very gentlemanly of you to say so! When I first saw your figs, I was like, "Oooh, this round is going to be tough. I'm don't know if my paint jobs are better..." I'm completely floored by the voting, though. I think the two teams are much, much closer, 42.
Someone mentioned the building. For a thread of its own, check here:

I was so happy with how it came out, I HAD to put it in the first photo shoot. Who knows? Another side of it may appear in another round!
Thanks everyone for the kind words!

Nice horses, a nice building, clean painting and a terrific banner. Wish I could just see a buit more of the faces of the models.

Nice pics, nice figs, love the flag, however I thought we weren't allowed to let backgrounds and settings influence our votes this time around?

Is that really hand painted ? If so, quite an amazing piece of brushwork.

No, the banner is not hand-painted, but also not commercially purchased. I "created" it...just not with my paintbrush...ha, ha! I hope that no one feels mislead...
The building, on the other hand, IS hand painted, as are all the miniatures, shield designs, etc...

While both are wonderful, what took it for me were the faces. 42 did a wonderful job on Horses! faces seemed to almost be a broad stroke. Although camera angles are not great on Demana's pics, I am still able to see the faces, and notice wonderful detail down to maybe the pupil (?) on the faces available. I tried not to be swayed by the Diorama Demana had set up, but man, whether he actually hand painted the flag or not, it was well done and well incorporated into the theme. One thing I truly enjoyed about the Anglo-Egyptian set of figures was the contrast of the uniforms. I think other entrants should consider using such mixed uniforms in the future!
