Parroom Station's Masked Minions painted as a rifle company.

Nice! I would love to see you do a little more with your bases. It would make good minis great minis

I agree my bases are quite base. The problem has been an utter lack of space leading to rough and ready storage. Luckily that is changing over the Summer. I'm looking forward to happy days spent flocking and a chance to create mini dioramas on my stands like those I've admired so much on this site. :)

The bases are fine the way they are. I am against spending too much time on doing the bases.
1. Fancy decorative bases take valuable time away from painting.
2. A plain painted base can be repainted to better match the terrain. The battle will be in a jungle, paint it green, next week on Mars, paint it red, in an urban area a nice gray will do. Nothing like a beautifully decorated base that doesn't match the terrain of the battle.
3. It gives you a place to mark which figure is in which unit. Unit A from the Red Army is in hand to hand with Unit 1 from the Blue army. Then Unit C from the Red army joins the battle, as does Unit 5 from the Blue army. Casualties are taken by both sides. With a plain marked base it is easy to figure out loses for each unit. After running a couple GASLIGHT games were several units mixed it up, I came to appreciate the usefullness of having clearly distinguishable troops.

Cool looking minis. I've never really looked at the minis on Parroom Station but I'm thinking I need to check them out.
As for the bases, I can really see it going both ways. Having a finished base definitely makes the figure feel more complete IMO, but it can be taken to an extreme if you're not careful. I've even passed on buying some minis just because of various small bits of scenery that are cast as part of the mini. While great for making more of a display piece, they just bug me when it comes to gaming.

I've always liked those Paroom figures. Masked minions are perfect for IHMN or EOTD.
Cheers
