Title: A Muskets & Tomahawks day in North-East England
Post by: Galloping Major on 16 April 2013, 08:31:22 PM
Graham Cummings has forwarded the following:

Just a short note to say that on the 4th of May I will be holding an M&T day at Waugh Games, Skippers Lane Industrial Estate Middlesbrough, TS6 6PT (http://www.waughgames.co.uk/).
There will be 3 linked scenarios which will culminate in a larger game. If you want to come down to try the rules just pop in, if you have some figures and want to play let me know.
Players will be asked to contribute £2.50 each for the day to cover the cost of the table hire, hot drinks and snacks are available on site. Food orders are taken around 11.15 for a local caterer to deliver.
We aim to start around 10am.
Even better The Galloping Major himself (Lance) will be attending with his figures which we will be stocking from that day. There’ll be a “Soldiers Free” figure (one choice only  ;)) for all participants.
So all in all the makings of a cracking day.
Any questions re directions, the day itself, to let me know you’re coming or in fact anything then just contact me at graham_cummings2003@yahoo.co.uk
 :)

Let's make it July 4th rather than May please.  I'll be in the UK, just down the road from Middlesbrough, then.  :)

Have fun guys.

The Gallery is looking great, lot's of inspiration there and always getting better.  :)

I'm heading to Kirkbymoorside from roughly June 27th to July 14th.  Some trips to various capitals interspersed.  Edinburgh, Dublin, and London for about two days each at different times.

Thanks Fergal  8)

Kirby Moorside isn't so far from here, we'll have to see if we can meet up if you get a gap  :)

Cheers,
Lance

Looking forward to the M&T for tomorrow, Graham has several smaller scenarios planned, converging into one big one  :D 8)

I really enjoyed it, nice friendly atmosphere at Waugh Games http://www.waughgames.co.uk/ (http://www.waughgames.co.uk/), very well organised by Graham Cummings, 3 small engagements leading to a larger confrontation, my first games with M&T (I knew I would get round to it eventually) and I'm pretty much a convert now  :)
Graham may very well be persuaded to run another one  8) no idea when though, yet  ;)

Sounds like it was a great day! Looking forward to seeing those pictures! I am still slowly but surely working on a M&T project myself. I had a huge clearout by getting rid of a load of projects, and now I look around and see I'm back to how I was lol

he'll be filling out more detail later, and I have a load of pictures that I'll try to get time to sort soon  :D
I loved the way the 3 skirmishes set the scene for the big engagement  8)

To start off here are some of the pics of the Wood Cutters scenario (first of the 3 smaller ones that built up to the bigger one).  8)
The wood cutting party found themselves under attack by Canadian Militia and French-allied Indians, they held out bravely for the expected and much hoped-for relief from a party of rangers, which sadly for them, never came, leaving them to be decimated by their attackers.

A unit of Canadian Militia accompanied by their officer move in on a settlement in the second scenario "Raid". All 3 of the first batch of scenarios ran simultaneously  :)

The 2nd starter scenario involved Leigh attacking a small settlement with a unit of Canadian Militia and officer and 3 bands of Huron Warriors and a sachem.  :)
I was defending with a unit of Provincials and officer, and 2 units of militia and officer. Help may arrive in the form of a unit of Rangers and a band of Mohawk warriors – if either should arrive in time.  ;)
The Canadian Militia engaged the colonial militia unit on my right flank while two of the Huron war bands crossed the river to attack the Provincials and try to set fire to the nearest cabin. The Huron war band attempting to set fire to the cabin took casualties to fire from Provincials inside the cabin and fled back to the river, but the other band in a cultivated field continued to engage the Provincials behind the barricades, meanwhile, the Huron leader persisted in setting the cabin ablaze, causing it to be evacuated.  >:(

The colonial militia on the flank took heavy casualties to fire from the Canadians.

The second militia unit move in on the flank of the Canadians and begin to whittle them down. The Mohawk have appeared behind the Huron and have started to inflict casualties on one of their bands.

The rangers also put in a timely appearance at the other side of the settlement  :)

Two of the Huron war parties have been driven back.

The remaining Canadian Militia are driven away, but return for just long enough to complete the firing of the two-storey building. The chaps standing in the background off to the top right are not reinforcements, but are the other party of militiamen slaughtered by the Canadians in their assault and since removed from play  :(

The Raid scenario was brought to an end about this point, with honours pretty much even.  8)
